One Part Number, One Failure
Ducati sells this as one assembly, so one dead contact retires the throttle housing along with it. That is the reason a machined replacement covering both is a reasonable rather than an extravagant purchase.
The Restyle That Sold
Ducati gave the SuperSport the Panigale V4's face in 2021 and changed almost nothing mechanical. Sales improved noticeably, which is an uncomfortable but honest lesson about what buyers respond to.
An Inertial Platform
Cornering ABS, traction control and wheelie control, all reading lean angle. It brought a road-focused sports bike up to the electronic standard of the superbikes above it.
A Grip That Stays Tight
The tube runs in a bore that was cut on a machine rather than formed in a tool. Ten years later it is still the right diameter, which is not true of most injection-moulded housings.
Water Finds Seams
Not the button, not the spring, but the joint between two moulded halves. That is where a decade of rain eventually gets to a terminal, and a body milled from one block does not have one.
Aerospace Alloy, Honestly
Ergal 7075 is roughly twice as strong as the aluminium normally used for machined accessories. On a throttle housing that mostly means it survives being dropped rather than that it performs better.
Winglets That Do Little
At the speeds a SuperSport is actually ridden they generate almost nothing. Ducati fitted them for family resemblance and made no serious claims, which is more straightforward than most manufacturers manage.
Fifteen Minutes
Bar end, grip, two fasteners and one connector. The loom is not cut at any point, so the whole thing reverses just as quickly.
A Class With No Competitors
Fast, faired, comfortable and not a superbike describes very little on the market. Manufacturers keep leaving the space and Ducati keeps building for it.
