One Repair, One Price
The switches are inside the throttle housing and Ducati sells nothing smaller. On a touring bike whose controls are worked constantly in bad weather, that is worth knowing before it matters.
The Smaller Multistrada
A hundred and thirteen horsepower from the 937 cc Testastretta, in the full-size chassis. Ducati built it because the 1200 was more motorcycle than most buyers wanted.
Nineteen Inches at the Front
The compromise that makes the 950 usable on a gravel road without spoiling it on tarmac. It is a more honest choice than either seventeen or twenty-one would have been.
Salt Rather Than Rain
Water dries out of a moulded joint. Road salt does not, and on a bike ridden through European winters it works on a terminal across several seasons before anything is noticed.
Hours in One Position
Touring means holding a throttle opening rather than moving it constantly. A bore that has stayed true keeps that stable and the wrist noticeably less tired at the end of a day.
Grown Into the Surface
Anodising converts the top layer of the aluminium electrochemically. Nothing sits on it to lift, which on a motorcycle that lives outdoors is the difference visible first.
Thirty Thousand Kilometre Services
The Testastretta 11 degree interval changed what a Ducati costs to keep. On a bike covering real distance, that is the most important number in the whole specification.
Ergal 7075
Roughly twice the strength of ordinary machined aluminium. A tall motorcycle carrying panniers puts real force through the handlebar when it eventually goes over.
No Splices
Ducati's own connector at the end of the loom. On a bike taken a long way from a workshop, an installation with no cut wires is the one still working at the far end.
