DescriptionThe whole story▼
ShiftCam gave the boxer variable valve timing and the GS another 11 hp. The JP CO BM018 replaces its combined throttle housing and right-hand switch block with one milled Ergal body.
Key Features
- BMW R1250GS (2018–2023)
- Machined from a single block of Ergal 7075
- Integrated right-hand switch block
- No model lettering on the housing
- Black anodised
- Plug-and-play on the original connector
Variable Valve Timing on a Boxer
BMW enlarged the engine to 1254 cc in 2018 and added a shifting camshaft that changes valve timing and lift according to load. The effect is a motorcycle that pulls cleanly from very low revs and still makes 136 hp at the top, and it is the main reason the R1250GS displaced its own predecessor so quickly.
More Electronics, More Buttons
The 1250 arrived with a full TFT display, connectivity, and riding modes that are genuinely worth changing between road surfaces rather than being a specification-sheet feature. All of that traffic passes through the right-hand cluster, which BMW built into the throttle housing. It is used constantly and cannot be replaced in isolation.
One Machined Body
This unit takes the place of both parts at once: the throttle housing and the switch block, milled from a single piece of Ergal 7075 and anodised black. The original connector is used, so the motorcycle's electronics are unchanged and no coding is required after fitting.
The Version Without Lettering
A GS-badged variant of the same housing is available. This one carries no model designation, which is the choice most owners make when the bike already wears aftermarket bodywork or a non-standard paint scheme and the cockpit is meant to stay quiet.
Black Anodised, One Finish
Unlike the S1000RR housings, this body is offered in black only. On a GS that is the right decision: the cockpit is already a mix of black plastic, a large TFT screen and whatever mounts the owner has added, and a coloured component would be the loudest thing in it. The anodising runs through the surface rather than sitting on top of it.
