A Wet Clutch
Quieter and cheaper to maintain than the dry unit on the larger twins, which suited the audience the 899 was aimed at precisely.
A Sealed Plug, Not a Bodge
The resistance sits inside a potted body with the correct connector moulded on. There is no heatshrink, no crimp under the seat and nothing that vibrates apart over a season.
Refitting
The standard connector plugs back in exactly where it was. No new hardware and no replacement seals, which means the motorcycle returns to specification in minutes.
A Sealed Body
The unit is potted so that vibration and water have nothing to work on. That matters under a seat unit, which is wetter than most owners assume.

Under the seat is wetter than most owners expect once a motorcycle has been ridden through a winter. A sealed body is not a luxury there.
No Splice Anywhere
The loom is untouched. Nothing is cut, stripped, crimped or soldered, which is what makes reversal a two-minute job rather than a repair.

The tail assembly, its fasteners, its connector and the mudguard belong together. Dismantled across three boxes they are worth very little; kept as a unit they refit in an evening and answer the first question any careful buyer asks about a converted motorcycle.
