Öhlins, Now Semi-Active
The Factory of this era carried electronically managed Öhlins that adjusted damping from the inertial platform. On a superbike the load shifts between the wheels faster than any fixed setting can accommodate.
Winglets on a Road Bike
Aprilia bolted aerodynamic appendages to the fairing before most rivals had considered it. They came from a MotoGP programme that had been running them for several seasons and they work at circuit speed.
Adjusted From the Left
Suspension mode, engine map and traction level all live in menus reached from this block. A Factory owner changes them between sessions and often within one, so these keys see more use than any other control.
The Later Layout
This part number fits the 2019 and 2020 Factory only. Aprilia changed the left-hand block with the model update, and the earlier bikes need the version without the RF suffix.
What Remains Standard
Semi-active suspension, forged wheels, winglets and Brembo calipers. The switchgear stayed as it left the moulding tool, and against everything else on the motorcycle that becomes hard to ignore from the saddle.
Black or Titanium
Both converted into the surface. Titanium sits closest to the Factory's gold anodising without attempting to match it, which usually reads better than an approximate match would.
Sealed and Plugged In
Elements enclosed within the billet, loom terminating in Aprilia's own connector. The exchange is mechanical and leaves no trace in the diagnostics.
A Limiter for the Pit Lane
Aprilia built a proper pit-lane speed limiter into a road-going superbike and gave it a button on the bar. It is an unambiguous statement about who the Factory was drawn for, and it is one more contact that gets used hard on a track weekend and then ignored for months.
