A Parallel Electrical System
The I2M dashboard reads this block directly. What each button does is written in its configuration rather than determined by Ducati's wiring.
Semi-Active, Then Removed
Race builds usually replace the S's electronically managed Öhlins with conventional cartridges. A team would rather control damping itself than argue with a road algorithm.
Forged Wheels Included
One fewer thing to buy for a competition build. The S arrives with rotating mass already removed at the point where it costs the most.
A Segment Marker
Assigned in software and pressed while riding. It is the control that accumulates operations fastest on a data-equipped motorcycle by a very wide margin.
Military-Specification Contacts
Sealed inside the machined body. Twenty minutes after the flag a hot jet arrives, and that is what ends switchgear rather than the number of laps completed.

Öhlins NPX
The S carries a pressurised fork developed in Ducati's racing programme, which resists cavitation under the repeated hard braking a circuit demands. Race builds often keep it rather than replacing it, which is unusual for a road-specification component.
