DescriptionThe whole story▼
The left-hand switch block for an RS 660 with a MECTRONIK dashboard, machined from black anodised Ergal.
Key Features
- Aprilia RS 660 (2020–2026)
- Wired for the MECTRONIK dashboard
- Black anodised Ergal 7075
- CNC-machined from solid
- Military-specification sealed elements
Wired for the Dashboard
The inputs from this block go to the MECTRONIK unit rather than to Aprilia's electronics. It is a component of that system rather than a modification to the motorcycle's own.
Where These Bikes Are
An RS 660 with a race data system in it is competing, usually in a national championship or a well-organised club series. It has a racing loom, a rebuilt engine and a rider who reads logs on a Monday.
Buttons Defined in Software
What each control does is set in the dashboard's configuration. The same hardware on two bikes can be mapped completely differently, which is precisely why teams buy a system like this.
Not for a Standard Bike
Fitted to a motorcycle still running Aprilia's own dashboard, this block has nowhere to send its signals. The dash and the loom come first and this is the part that finishes the installation.
Black Anodised
A single finish converted into the surface. On a race bike the finish is chosen for how it survives being cleaned rather than for how it looks in a photograph.
Sealed to Military Standard
Elements enclosed within the machined body. Between hot washing, a wet paddock and a trailer, competition switchgear meets more water in a season than a road bike does in five years.
Cut From Solid
Ergal 7075 machined rather than moulded, which matters on a part that will come off and go back on repeatedly as the bike is rebuilt between rounds.
Half an RSV4's Cylinders
The 659 cc twin borrows the superbike's bore and stroke, which is why it revs where it does and why it responds to tuning the way it does. Race teams have been finding more in it than the class expected.
The Left Side Does the Work
On a data system the left block carries the lap marker, the page selection and whatever else the team has assigned to it, all of which get used during a session rather than between them. It accumulates operations faster than anything else on the motorcycle.
