A Question Worth Asking First
Is the stand still on the motorcycle? If it is, the interlock is protecting against a real mistake and the sensible move is a new switch rather than an eliminator. The distinction matters and it is the whole decision.
Carrying One as a Spare
Riders heading somewhere remote sometimes carry a replacement switch. An eliminator weighs less, costs less and solves the problem permanently rather than once, which is why several end up in tool rolls rather than fitted.
On a Bike Being Prepared for a Circuit
The stand comes off with the mirrors, the plate and the lights, and none of it goes back until the motorcycle returns to the road. Fitting the eliminator at that point means the rest of the evening's work can actually be tested.

Unplug, plug in, secure the lead. There is no polarity, no setting and no way to fit it the wrong way round.
