Styled After the DR-Big
Suzuki drew the 1050 after a motorcycle from 1988 that most of the market had forgotten. It was a confident decision and it gave the V-Strom an identity it had lacked.
A Hundred and Seven Horsepower
From the 1037 cc twin with revised cams and a new throttle body. Suzuki found more power while meeting Euro 5, which is not a trivial combination.
Why the Stand Might Go
Damage on a loaded bike, or a rally conversion fitting something stronger. The switch is on the bracket and cannot stay behind.
The Consequence
An open circuit reads as a deployed stand and the engine cuts in gear. On a bike far from home that is more than an annoyance.
Closing the Loop
This unit supplies the state the ECU expects, properly rather than by bridging. The display stays clean and no fault is logged.
Cornering ABS
The 1050 gained an inertial platform with lean-sensitive braking and hill hold. Suzuki was late to it and the implementation is good.
Three Model Years
The fitment covers 2020 to 2022, including the DE version with its larger front wheel.
Nothing Cut
Suzuki's own connector. An installation containing no splices is the one that survives a long trip.
A Considered Removal
On a touring bike with a stand still fitted, the interlock earns its place. It should come out for a reason rather than by default.
The DE Version
Suzuki added a twenty-one inch front wheel, longer travel and switchable traction control for riders who genuinely leave tarmac. It is a real off-road variant rather than a graphics package, and it changed how the model was received.
