Semi-Active at the Back
A single solenoid valve in the shock, driven by the suspension module. On a naked bike the weight transfer is less predictable and the system has more to do than on a faired machine.
Why Convert Anyway
Because a rider settled on one circuit and one riding position wants repeatability rather than adaptability, and a rebuildable competition shock delivers it.
Continuity, Checked
The module measures the actuator coil at every start. Its absence is treated as a failure and the suspension warning stays on the panel.
The Expected Load
This unit supplies it, so the check passes and nothing is written into fault memory for a dealer to find.
A Longer Swingarm
The current Tuono gained length behind the engine, which makes rear ride height a more useful adjustment than it was on the bike before it.
The Rest Is Untouched
Traction control, cruise control and cornering ABS all read other sensors. None of them depends on the shock actuator.
Keep the Original
The standard Öhlins unit is expensive and sells readily second hand. Nothing in this conversion damages it or prevents it going back.
Nothing Spliced
Aprilia's own connector with no adapters and no cut wires anywhere.
Reversible
Refit the standard shock, unplug the eliminator and the semi-active system behaves as before.
A Road Bike Keeps It
Over changing surfaces the electronically managed shock does work no fixed setting can match.
Weight Transfer Without a Fairing
An upright rider moves considerably more mass around than one tucked behind a screen, and the rear suspension feels all of it. That is the argument for keeping the electronic shock on a road bike and it is also why a track-focused Tuono benefits so clearly from a properly set mechanical one.
