The Bigger Air Cooled Twin
Ducati took the Desmodue out to 1079 cc for the 1100, which is about as far as an air-cooled engine of that design can sensibly go.
Starting From Zero
An empty map means the motorcycle runs exactly as it did before, because every correction is nought. That is the safest possible starting point and it is where every session should begin.
Reading the Result
A wideband display or a logged file tells you what the mixture actually did. Without one, mapping is an exercise in changing numbers and hoping.
Bought Properly
With a measured mixture and methodical sessions it produces a motorcycle that fuels correctly everywhere, which is something no preset curve can promise.
No Subscription, No Lock
The map is a file the owner holds and the software is not rented. That is worth stating because it is no longer universal in this corner of the market.
Firmware Updates
Occasional and delivered through the same software. Apply them before starting a long project rather than halfway through one.
Documentation
There is a manual and it is short. Most of the learning happens in the software with a motorcycle in front of you rather than in a document.
Two Bikes, One Unit
Not practical. The harness is model-specific and the map belongs to a configuration, so moving the unit between machines means a new harness and a new map.
Why the Factory Cannot Do This
A manufacturer maps one motorcycle for every market, every fuel and every exhaust it will ever wear, then adds margin for the emissions cycle. No fixed map can also be correct for one bike with a race can on it.
