A Bike Built to Be Raced
Carbon bodywork, Öhlins electronic suspension and a data logger. A high proportion of R1Ms are prepared for circuits and the emissions hardware rarely survives that.
The Plate and the Solenoid
This is the mechanical half. The electrical eliminator handles the fault code, and both are needed for the job to be finished properly.
Its Own Gasket
Included with the cover. The sealing face sits beside an exhaust port and improvised sealant does not survive the heat for a season.
Titanium Rods
Yamaha fitted them so the crossplane four could reach its rev ceiling reliably. It is an expensive answer to a problem created by a decision about sound and traction.
A Magnesium Subframe
Used to take weight out at the rear. Details like that are why the R1M costs what it does and who Yamaha expected to buy one.
Flat Through Heat Cycles
Machined aluminium holds its face where pressed metal moves. On a component bolted to a cylinder head that is the only property that matters.
Type Approval
The PAIR system is part of the motorcycle's registration. Removing it is a track modification and there is no point suggesting otherwise.
Honest Lambda Readings
With the air supply closed the sensor reports combustion alone. Every fuelling decision downstream of that becomes meaningful rather than approximate.
Reversible
The original cover and gasket go back whenever the bike needs to return to standard specification.
Allocated, Not Simply Sold
Yamaha builds the R1M in limited numbers each year and distributes it through a registration process rather than through dealer stock. Owners tend to know exactly what they have and to keep every original part in a box.
