The Mechanical Half
A reed housing on the cylinder head with a hose from the airbox. It is what physically admits air into the exhaust port on a closed throttle.
Visible on a Naked Bike
Without bodywork the top of the engine is part of the design. A milled blank reads as deliberate where a capped hose reads as unfinished.
Sealed on an O-Ring
A rubber ring in a turned groove against a machined face. No paper, no compound and nothing to scrape off years later.
Built With Piaggio's Indian Plant
Assembly in India is how the price is reached and the engineering came from Noale. The combination has worked considerably better than sceptics predicted.
Upright Bars
Aprilia raised the riding position and left the rest alone. It is the more practical of the two 457s and the one most likely to be ridden every day.
Heat Cycles
Plastic bolted to a cylinder head takes more thermal movement than almost anything else on the motorcycle. Aluminium is indifferent to it.
Original Fasteners
Aprilia's own bolt positions and torque values throughout. Nothing is drilled and the casting is not modified.
Only Part of the System
The solenoid circuit is monitored separately, so a blanked head alone does not keep the panel clear.
Homologation
Removing emissions hardware ends road legality in every European market.
Reversible
The standard housing goes back on its own fasteners with nothing consumed.
Forty-Seven Horsepower Without a Limiter
The engine makes its figure honestly rather than being electronically strangled to reach the A2 category, which means it behaves consistently everywhere in the rev range. Riders who later take the full licence usually find they were not missing very much.
