The controller pulses the circuit and measures the response, expecting a value consistent with a healthy solenoid. The connector presents that value through a resistor network potted against water and vibration, so nothing is intercepted or generated.
The Mechanical Half in Detail
A cover machined from solid with its sealing groove cut in the same operation, closing the head's ports on an O-ring against the factory machined face. No jointing compound, no gasket to destroy on removal and nothing inside it that ages.

Before anything is disconnected, a picture of how the lines run costs a minute and answers every question that comes up during reassembly. It also settles which fitting at the airbox has to be closed, which is the detail most often discovered too late.
