A Hundred and Seventy Kilograms
Wet, which is light enough that a smaller rider can manage it comfortably. That matters more on a first motorcycle than any other figure.
A Short Production Run
Kawasaki offered the Z300 for a few years before the Z400 replaced it, which makes used examples less common than the Ninja's.
KLEEN
Kawasaki calls it the Clean Air System, and it does what every manufacturer's version does: admits filtered air into the exhaust ports on a closed throttle so leftover mixture finishes burning there. The name is the only thing that distinguishes it and the badge appears on nothing a rider ever sees.
Keep the Valve
It refits with its own connector and it is what a dealer will look for. Storing it costs no space and preserves the option entirely.
What Actually Improves
A quieter overrun, no stored fault and one fewer perishable component on a hot cylinder head. That is the complete and honest list.
The Test Runs at Every Start
It is not an occasional check. Every time the ignition comes on the controller looks for the coil, which is why an unplugged valve complains immediately and permanently.
Access Is the Job
The connector itself takes two minutes. Everything else is bodywork, which is why nobody should be doing this as a standalone task on a Saturday afternoon.
What a Dealer Would Find
Nothing, because the self-test passes rather than being circumvented. That matters more than it sounds when a motorcycle goes back for a recall or a warranty item and somebody connects a reader to it.
Before the Dyno, Always
Air arriving in the exhaust after combustion shifts what the sensor reports, and a map written from that run describes the plumbing as much as the engine. Every fuelling decision taken afterwards inherits and compounds the error.
