The JP ES 007 handles the electrical side of removing secondary air from the Multistrada V4S, which is the half that decides whether the dashboard stays clean afterwards.

Minimum Preload at a Standstill
Ducati's system lowers the bike as it stops, which on a tall adventure motorcycle is the single most useful electronic feature available.
The Circuit the ECU Watches
Coil resistance, read at every ignition cycle. An empty connector is electrically identical to a broken wire and the dashboard reports it as a fault.
What the Unit Contains
A resistance matched to the solenoid winding, potted in a sealed body with Ducati's own connector moulded on. There is nothing to configure.
Test It Cold
The system is most active during warm-up, so a cold start and a short ride is the honest check that the change has done what it should.

Not Related to the Exhaust Valve
Several Ducatis also carry a servo-operated butterfly in the silencer, which is a separate system entirely. Confusing the two leads to ordering the wrong part.
Why Every Modern Ducati Has One
Emissions cycles measure what leaves the pipe rather than what happens inside the cylinder, so burning residue afterwards is a legitimate way to pass. It costs the manufacturer almost nothing.
Why the Solenoid Is the Part That Dies
It is a coil switching a small valve, bolted within a hand's width of a cylinder head and cycled every time the engine runs through its warm-up. Insulation ages under that treatment in a way that has nothing to do with how far the motorcycle has been ridden, which is why low-mileage machines turn up with exactly the same fault as hard-worked ones.
Fitted at a Service, Not Between Ones
The tank has to come off for several routine jobs, and the eliminator takes twenty minutes once it is off. Doing this at the same time as a filter, a coolant change or a set of belts is straightforward; doing it on its own is an evening spent almost entirely on bodywork.
