The JP KS DU056 replaces the Streetfighter V4S's ignition block with a sealed push button, which takes the lock, the key and about three hundred and fifty grams off the top yoke.

The Later Machines
Ducati's revision changed the top yoke arrangement, which is why the newer Streetfighters take their own ignition switch rather than the earlier one.
The Steering Lock Goes
Removing the barrel removes the lock with it. On a road bike that matters; on a machine in a van between circuits it does not.
Not for a Road Bike
A registered motorcycle needs its steering lock and, in most places, its immobiliser. This part assumes the machine is used away from public roads.
A Sealed Unit
Everything electrical inside is closed against water and vibration, which is what separates this from a switch bought by the metre.

Championships differ on how the engine has to be stoppable and where the control must sit. Read the rulebook before the order rather than after it.
The Connector Question
It matches what the ignition block used on that motorcycle. That is why the catalogue is a list of models rather than a list of sizes.
The Button's Feel
Positive, sealed and usable in gloves. It is the one part of the design a rider actually interacts with, which is why the switch is the expensive component.
Cleaning
Anodising tolerates the chemicals a motorcycle meets. What it does not tolerate is abrasive, which is true of every finished part on the machine.
A Question of Storage
Where the motorcycle lives decides this more than how it is ridden. A locked workshop makes the missing steering lock irrelevant.
Regulations and Scrutineering
Championships set their own rules about how an engine must be stoppable and where the control sits. A sealed button in the standard yoke position satisfies most of them, but the rulebook is the only authority worth consulting and it is worth reading before ordering.
