The JP ES 002 clears the charcoal canister out of the Multistrada 1260 and provides the tank vent that has to replace it, which is the part nobody should improvise.

Twelve Hundred and Sixty-Two Cubic Centimetres
Ducati enlarged the Testastretta and added variable valve timing, which transformed the low-down drive without costing anything at the top.
A Kilogram and a Half
Vessel, bracket, valve, hoses and clips together, carried high. The figure is small and the position makes it worth more than the scales suggest.
Access to the Shock
On several Ducatis the vessel sits directly in front of the rear preload adjuster, which turns a two-minute setting change into an exercise in short tools.
Improvised Removals
A hose cut short and cable-tied to the frame is the usual approach. It vents the tank until the motorcycle lies on its side and then demonstrates the problem.
Two Different Motorcycles
A track bike loses nothing here and a registered road bike in a mandated market loses its compliance. The same model can be either.
The Carbon Does Not Announce Itself
There is no gauge, no warning and no code. It works or it does not, and the transition happens without any indication at all.

Where the Space Goes
Different owners want it for different things: an aftermarket shock reservoir, a larger exhaust silencer, a set of luggage mounts or simply a clean look under the tail. The volume freed is genuine and it is usually in the most contested part of the motorcycle.
Where Ducati Puts the Canister
It goes wherever there is room, which on a superbike means under the tail and on an adventure machine means alongside the swingarm or behind the engine. That is why the space it frees is worth different amounts to different owners, and why the job is worth doing on some models and barely noticeable on others.
Where the Canister Hides on a Multistrada
Luggage mounts, a centre stand and a long exhaust route all compete for the space under the tail on this generation, and the charcoal drum sits in the middle of it. Owners fitting panniers or a different silencer usually find the canister before they find anything else.
