The Yamaha R1 RN22's crossplane-crank inline-four is celebrated for its raw, linear power delivery — but that character comes with a thermally demanding engine that generates significant heat at high rpm. In warm ambient conditions or during sustained track use, the standard radiator routinely reaches its limits, producing climbing coolant temperatures, fluctuating power output and accelerated component wear.
H2O Performance addressed this by designing a direct-replacement radiator that slots straight into the RN22's original mounting points while offering a meaningfully larger heat-exchange surface. The optimised aluminium core dissipates heat more efficiently at every speed, keeping coolant temperatures lower and more stable whether you are filtering through city traffic or pinning the throttle on circuit.

The practical effect of the upgrade is felt immediately. Coolant temperatures stabilise at a lower set point, the engine's torque curve feels cleaner and more consistent, and the RN22 no longer suffers the subtle power cuts that a heat-saturated OEM cooler can induce. For trackday regulars and racers, the added thermal reserve is a genuine safety margin — reduced heat soak means the engine is less likely to reach a condition where the ECU intervenes to protect it. On longer road rides in hot climates, the same logic applies: the motor simply runs in a calmer, more reliable state across the entire journey.
