DescriptionThe whole story▼
Most of a race weekend is not spent riding. It is spent under an awning with the bike on stands, a notebook open and somebody's kettle going, working out what to change before the next session. Accossato's ZXC ceramic racing material belongs to that world, and in the AGPA112 shape it is listed for the front wheel of the Benelli Leoncino 800 of 2022 and 2023, for owners who have turned a retro roadster into a weekend circuit bike.
Key Features
- Front pads for the Benelli Leoncino 800 and Leoncino 800 Trail, 2022 and 2023
- Article number AGPA112ZXC: the AGPA112 shape in the ZXC ceramic racing material
- Accossato describes a ceramic mixture drawn up for competition
- Two pads per box, the number a single caliper is fitted with
- Check the front wheel of your machine for the number of calipers before ordering
- The same outline is also pressed in the OR, ST, EV1 and EV2 materials
- The AGPA177 covers 2020 and 2021; the rear wheel uses the AGPA42
- No German ABE on record; supplied for competition and circuit riding
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato's description of this material is short and specific: a ceramic mixture intended for racing. That is where its character is meant to show, and where the buyer should expect to use it. In the AGPA112 outline it takes the place of the front pads on the later Leoncino 800, and it comes packed as the pair one caliper holds. Whatever else changes over a weekend, the friction material is a variable worth keeping still: a rider chasing a set-up has enough to think about without wondering whether the brake is telling them the truth.
Between Sessions, Under the Awning
Paddock work has a rhythm. The bike comes back in, goes on its stands, and somebody writes down what the rider said before they forget it. Then the checks begin, and the front wheel is usually first. A torch through the caliper shows how much friction material is left on each side, and it is worth looking at both pads rather than the outer one alone, because uneven wear across a caliper is a message about something else. A clean rag on the disc faces takes off whatever the circuit threw at them. Fluid level gets a glance, the hose gets a look along its whole length, and the lever gets a hard pull.
If a change is needed, do it now rather than in the ten minutes before the session. Clean the exposed part of each piston before anything is pushed back, because grit dragged under a seal is a fault you will meet again later in the day. Fit both sides, pump the lever until the pressure comes back and stays, and then do it once more after the wheel has been turned. Ride the out lap deliberately so that the new set beds evenly. Write in the book what went on the bike and at what point in the weekend, because by Sunday afternoon nobody remembers.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato's application data put the AGPA112 at the front of the Leoncino 800 in 2022 and 2023, with the Leoncino 800 Trail of those years alongside it, and give the 2020 and 2021 bike the AGPA177 instead. A box covers one caliper, so count them before you order, and change the axle as a pair. Riders who use the same Leoncino 800 on the road between events will want a milder material in the same shape for that duty; the OR, ST, EV1 and EV2 versions exist for it. The rear pad is the AGPA42, listed from 2020 to 2023, and the Accossato disc catalogue covers no Benelli of this kind.
Road Approval
No German ABE and no inspection documents accompany the AGPA112ZXC. We list it for competition, which is the setting Accossato describes for this material.
