DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Accossato 16x18 radial clutch master cylinder brings the same construction as its braking counterpart over to the clutch side: a 16 mm piston paired with a fixed 18 mm lever pivot that Accossato recommends for both track sessions and street riding. The Revolution lever adjusts its reach by fitting or removing the supplied insert, so riders with different hand sizes can set the control without changing parts, and the lever is offered in a choice of colours against the black anodised body. Like every Accossato radial unit, it is built to keep the clutch's passive stroke as short as practical.
Key Features
- 16 mm piston diameter for a progressive, well modulated clutch release
- 18 mm fixed lever pivot distance for track use, also recommended for street riding
- Revolution-type lever with reach adjustment by inserting or removing the supplied insert
- Lever supplied in a choice of colours, matched by an adjusting knob in the same shade
- CNC-machined aluminium body with a black anodised finish
- Offset riser that reduces deflection of the master cylinder during gear changes
- Passive lever stroke shortened by more than 50 percent against a standard radial unit
- Stainless steel mounting screws, zinced bleed valve and Formula 1 compound seals
Construction and Material Quality
This clutch master cylinder is forged aluminium, CNC machined and black anodised, assembled entirely in Italy. The mounting screws are stainless steel, the bleed valve is zinced steel, and the seals are Formula 1 compound, able to withstand the heat and chemical exposure that come with repeated clutch actuation. An offset riser sits in the mounting clamp to reduce flex of the body while the gearbox is being worked hard, and the internal geometry is shaped so the passive stroke, the travel before the clutch actually starts to disengage, stays more than 50 percent shorter than a standard radial master cylinder would allow. The hose connection uses the same M10x1 thread as the rest of the Accossato range.
Piston Diameter and Lever Pivot on the Clutch Side
On the clutch version of the 16x18, the 16 mm piston diameter is sized to move enough fluid for a confident, controllable release without demanding excessive hand effort at the lever. The 18 mm pivot distance is fixed, and Accossato lists it as suited to track use while also recommending it for everyday street riding, making it a balanced setting rather than one aimed purely at the circuit. Because the figure is not rider-adjustable, the feel at the lever stays consistent ride after ride, and only the reach itself can be changed, through the Revolution lever's insert, to suit the rider's hand without touching the underlying pivot ratio.
Fitment and Compatibility
Fifty-one motorcycles appear in our fitment data for this clutch master cylinder, spanning BMW, Ducati, Honda, Kawasaki and Suzuki, among them the BMW F800GS (2008-2016), Ducati Scrambler 400 (2016-2016), Honda CB1100 (2017-2017), Kawasaki Versys 650 (2007-2020) and Suzuki SV650 (2016-2020). See the Fitment tab on this page for the complete list with exact years, and check it against your own registration first.
Road Approval
This clutch master cylinder is not supplied with German road-approval documentation; it is intended for track and competition use.
Scope of Delivery
The package includes the Accossato 16x18 radial clutch master cylinder fitted with the Revolution lever and its reach-adjustment insert, in the lever colour selected, together with the matching mounting nut. Stainless steel mounting screws, the zinced bleed valve and the Formula 1 compound seals are assembled on the unit. The brake light switch, available separately as ID001 or ID002, and the fluid reservoir are not included and must be purchased separately.
