DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere was built from 2010 for people who ride a long way on roads that are not always roads, and it attracted the sort of owner who reads maps properly and knows where the next fuel is before setting off. Accossato lists the machine to 2019 and gives it the FC124, a quick-release fuel tank cap machined from aluminium with the pawl in one of six colours. It is a part for organised events on closed ground rather than for the open road.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Yamaha XT1200Z Super Tenere, 2010 to 2019
- Made entirely of CNC-machined aluminium
- Quick-closing pawl for opening and shutting the tank
- Six colours for the pin: blue, green, black, red, silver, gold
- Replacement pawl available on its own
- Accossato calls the cap robust and durable
- Confirm the fit against the application list before ordering
- No German ABE documented; sold for closed courses
Construction and Material Quality
Machined from aluminium on CNC equipment and made of nothing else, the FC124 is offered by Accossato as a robust, hard-wearing part with a design of its own. The quick-closing pawl is the element that does the work, opening the Super Tenere's tank with one movement and closing it with another, which is welcome when the machine is loaded and standing on ground that is not quite level. Colour comes from the pin in the pawl, six shades, selected when the order is placed, and that pawl remains available separately as a spare.
Riders Who Plan Ahead
A long route across open country is planned backwards from its fuel. Riders mark where supplies are certain, where they are merely likely and where there is nothing at all, and then they decide how far to go between them. The same habit carries over into how a machine is prepared: everything checked the evening before, the tools chosen for the bike rather than bought as a set, and nothing left to be sorted out on the morning. When such a rider takes the XT1200Z Super Tenere to a training day on closed ground, the preparation looks the same. The tank is full on arrival, the can is in the van, and the stop between sessions is a matter of a minute rather than a search.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the XT 1200 Z Super Tenere from 2010 to 2019, which is the span this product covers. The same FC124 is catalogued at Inter-Pace for the FJR1300, the MT-09 and the MT-07. Please check your machine against the application list before ordering, and ask us if the entry for your year is not clear.
Road Approval
Accossato documents no German ABE and no parts certificate for this cap, so it goes out for closed courses and events. On public roads the Super Tenere keeps its factory cap, which normally opens with the ignition key.
Scope of Delivery
One Accossato FC124 fuel tank cap with the pin in your preferred colour. The pawl is also sold as a separate spare.
