DescriptionThe whole story▼
Desert racing asks a lot of a front brake. On a KTM 450 XC-F, KTM's big four-stroke for cross-country racing, long stretches are ridden fast, and the brake is used hard and suddenly when a rock, a gully or a sharp turn appears out of the scenery. Accossato lists its B8283 for the 450 XC-F of 2013 to 2022: a three-finger brake lever from Ergal 7075 whose blade can fold when the desert throws you off.

- No German ABE documented; for off-road use
Construction and Material Quality
Strength, low weight and reliability are the three aims Accossato sets for its off-road levers, and they explain both the material and the method. The B8283 is CNC-machined from solid Ergal 7075, a high-strength aluminium alloy, and the machining is done in Italy. It is a two-part lever: the dark base sits on the master cylinder pivot and holds the joint, and the blade in black, blue or orange can fold forward from it. The blade is short and suits three fingers.
Open Desert at Speed
In the desert, speed is both the fun and the risk. A 450 XC-F covers open ground at a high pace, and at that pace the rider reads the terrain far ahead: the change of colour that means sand, the shadow that means a gully, the line of bushes that marks a wash. Braking is often late and hard, and it has to stay controlled so the front wheel does not lock on the loose surface. Stand on the pegs, weight back, both brakes used progressively, then off the brakes just before the obstacle so the suspension can do its job.
When the terrain surprises you, the fall happens at speed, and the bike may slide a long way or tumble. On the right side, the brake lever meets rocks and hard ground at a speed that breaks many levers outright. No joint can promise to survive that kind of crash, but the one on the B8283 gives the blade a chance to fold forward rather than snap. In the desert, where the next help may be a long way off, a working front brake on the KTM 450 XC-F can decide whether you ride back or wait.
Fitment and Compatibility
The B8283 is listed for the KTM 450 XC-F from 2013 to 2022, where it replaces the stock brake lever. On the clutch side, Accossato lists the C7283 folding lever for the 2008 model and for 2013 to 2022, so the two levers match up from 2013 onwards. Black, blue and orange are offered for both; the clutch lever also comes in red.
Road Approval
No German ABE is documented for the B8283. It is intended for off-road riding and competition, which is what the 450 XC-F is built for.
