The XSR700 arrived in 2016 as the retro sibling of the MT-07, sharing its parallel twin but dressed in heritage bodywork with a round headlight. For many owners it is a fair-weather bike that spends the winter under a cover, and the first ride of spring is when a well-placed brake lever matters most. The EDF016 from Accossato suits that moment: milled from aluminium for the XSR700 of 2016 to 2022, it mounts on the original master cylinder and adjusts for its distance to the grip.

Construction and Material Quality
Anodised aluminium needs no polish and no wax. A wipe with water and a mild cleaner keeps the EDF016 looking as it did on the day it was fitted; strong alkaline cleaners and abrasive pads are better kept away, because they can dull the coloured layer. Accossato machines the lever from aluminium on CNC equipment and anodises it with a black hub and a coloured blade. The blade is fixed, without a folding joint, and the reach adjuster sits in the hub near the pivot.
The First Ride After Winter
After months off the bike, the first ride of the year is a small reunion, and the brakes deserve some caution. Tyres are cold and may have lost pressure, the road can still carry salt and grit from the winter, and the rider's own reactions are rusty. It pays to spend the first few kilometres braking gently and often, feeling for grip and getting the right hand used to the lever again. That is easier if the lever was set properly in the first place. Before the season starts, sit on the XSR700 in the gloves you will ride in, and adjust the EDF016 so the blade meets your fingers without stretching. Then check that the brake light works as soon as the lever moves. A short blade suits two-finger braking on a bike this light; the standard blade is the natural choice if you brake with the whole hand.
Fitment and Compatibility
The EDF016 is listed for the XSR 700 without interruption from 2016 to 2022 and fits the original front master cylinder in place of the stock lever. For the clutch, the matching lever is the ESY688, but note that its listing for the XSR700 runs from 2016 to 2020 and then again for 2022, with 2021 not included. The XSR700 XTribute has its own entries in Accossato's list and its own products in our shop.
