The matt grey Lancer is the quietest graphic in the range — the design is fully present at close range and the helmet reads as a plain matt grey lid from across a car park.

A chin guard that opens — and the P/J question

🔵 Two mechanisms on this helmet have to work every time: the chin-guard lock and the strap closure. Neither should ever be operated by accident, and both are worth checking before a long ride.

The helmet is homologated to ECE 22.06; MT does not state a P/J marking.

About the Lancer B12 graphic

Tonal graphics age far better than coloured ones because colours belong to seasons and values do not. A treatment carried entirely in greys reads as design rather than as a marker of when the helmet was bought — useful on a modular likely to be kept for years. Grey is also the value at which road film, insect strike and dried rain all show least, which on a helmet with a chin-guard seam to collect them is worth having. 🔵 Conspicuity is mid-range: better than the blacks, well short of the Cheeky C3.

HIRP, ECE 22.06 — and the weight MT does not publish

🔵 Compare this against a composite modular honestly. A fibreglass flip-up of equal capability would be 150–300 g lighter and cost two to three times as much. That is the entire argument, and it is legitimate in both directions.

The Genesis R SV is HIRP, and MT publishes no weight for it.

The integrated sun visor

🔵 Keep the sun shield as clean as the main visor. It is the surface closest to your eyes, easy to forget because it lives inside the shell, and a fingerprint on it is far more visible than one outside.

Clean it wet, never dry.

The 935 visor and the Pinlock you buy separately

🔵 Order visors and lenses by designation rather than by helmet name. This helmet uses the 935 visor and takes DKS279 or DKS002 Pinlock lenses — different from every other MT model in this range.

No anti-fog insert is supplied with the helmet.

Interior, fit and intercom spaces

🔵 Intercom-ready spaces are shaped into the lining rather than being room you have to make by pushing padding aside. Check speaker depth as well as diameter before buying a system — depth is what decides whether a speaker presses on your ear.

No system is supplied with the helmet.

The micrometric closure

🔵 Two things to get right before your first long ride: the strap length, set bare-handed at home, and the fit itself. Neither can be corrected on the road, and the closure only solves the first.

The Genesis R SV uses a micrometric retention system.

Where it sits in MT's range

🔵 If an independent safety rating is part of your decision, note that only MT's Track SV currently carries one — four SHARP stars. No MT modular has been tested, and modular helmets are rarely tested by SHARP at all.

Every current MT holds ECE 22.06; this one does not add DOT.

When something wears out

The serviceable parts list on this helmet: visor, Pinlock lens, sun shield, lining and cheek pads.

🔵 Between them they cover everything except the shell, the EPS liner and the chin-guard mechanism — none of which is replaceable after an impact.
