Dark blue with orange on the carbon shell is the Manga colourway with the widest contrast range, and the one that stays legible longest as the light drops. Orange is the shade the eye resolves fastest in flat conditions.

A streetfighter shell with a spoiler that works

Four market approvals on one shell — ECE 22-06 for Europe, DOT FMVSS 218 for the United States, CCC GB811:2022 for China and NBR7471:2015 for Brazil — is more than most road helmets carry.

About the Manga Orange Blue graphic

This pairing is doing something specific: the deep blue absorbs the road film and insect strike that make a bright helmet look neglected within a week, while the orange keeps working in exactly the conditions where dark colours disappear — overcast light, dusk, wet tarmac. That combination is more useful on a helmet ridden year-round than either extreme would be. It also happens to be the most legible Manga at distance, because the two colours sit far apart in value rather than merely in hue. 🔵 Orange pigment fades faster than most under sustained UV; the supplied visor bag is not a helmet bag, so store the helmet out of direct sun separately.

The X-PRO Carbon 3K shell

3K describes the carbon tow — three thousand filaments per bundle — and it is the weave that produces the familiar chequerboard rather than a finer or coarser pattern. On the exposed-weave finishes you are looking at it directly.

The shell weighs 1600 g, 75 g under the composite version, and carries an X-Foam EPP bumper at the chin.

Anti-Vibration EPS — two shells and a rubber layer

Comfort systems are usually padding. This one is structural: a rubber layer between two EPS shells, working regardless of which cheek pads you fit or how you have set the vents.

Its target is the fine, constant buffeting a fast road helmet transmits — a fatigue and stability problem rather than a safety one.

Recoil visor, sun visor and the spare in the bag

Spring-loaded base side-plates do something a detented mechanism cannot: they pull the visor into the seal continuously rather than holding it at a fixed position, so the seal stays effective as the beads compress with age.

That is the Recoil system, and it is the same mechanism Nexx uses across its premium range. A Pinlock 70 MaxVision lens (DKS553) is fitted from new.

Six intakes, two chambers — and a 4/5 measurement

Ventilation on a road helmet has to work at motorway speed with the visor sealed, which is a different problem from an adventure helmet's low-speed cooling. The X.WST3's system is tuned for the former, and the measured result reflects it.

How quiet it actually is

Most helmet noise enters from below the chin bar rather than around the visor, which is why a closed collar makes such a difference. The X.WST3's removable breath guard works on the same path.

Interior, retention and fit

🔵 If you wear glasses, this is one of the easier premium full-face helmets to live with — independent testing called it glasses-friendly, and the intermediate-to-round oval shape combined with mesh-panelled front padding is why.

Arms pass through mesh more easily than through dense foam. The whole interior is removable and washable.

1600 grams, and the rest of the honest list

🔵 The honest list. Even in carbon this is a heavy helmet at 1600 g, and independent testing scored weight 2/5. No SHARP rating exists, and there is no ADAC or Snell result.

Against that: noise 4/5 at 100 dB, ventilation 4/5, comfort 4/5, overall 3.9/5, and a separate MCN rating of 4/5.

Comms, camera and spare parts

Helmets are consumables with a long life rather than permanent objects. Nexx, like every manufacturer, recommends replacement after around five years of use regardless of condition — and immediately after any real impact, because the EPS crushes once and does not recover.

Between those points, everything you touch on this helmet is replaceable.
