DescriptionThe whole story▼
The Piqueras replica is the top of the Targo S range at 132 € — the rider's own red livery on the same shell as everything else here, and the most expensive version by 13 €.
An entry sport full-face with two homologations
🔵 No independent safety rating exists for this helmet. SHARP has never listed the Targo S, and there is no ADAC or Snell result — nor any published road test. That means untested rather than poorly rated.
What it holds is ECE 22.06 and DOT certification — pass marks rather than comparative ratings.
About the Piqueras replica
It is worth saying plainly what the 13 € premium buys, because it is not capability: the shell, the visor, the closure, the interior and the approvals are identical across all four Targo S versions. What differs is the artwork and the licensing behind it. If the association appeals, it appeals honestly — and a rider replica at 132 € is a considerably more accessible thing than the same idea from a premium brand. Red is also a high-saturation colour that holds up well against grey tarmac, putting this among the more visible options here. 🔵 Red pigment fades faster than most under sustained ultraviolet, and like every replica this one runs for a season — a chipped print cannot be touched in. Of the four Targo S finishes this is the one that will date fastest and the one that will mean most to the right buyer, which is exactly what a replica is supposed to do. Red is also among the more conspicuous finishes here, so the choice costs you nothing in practical terms beyond the 13 € premium and the season-specific artwork.
The sun visor this helmet does not have
🔵 A tinted visor is not road-legal at night or in poor visibility in most European countries, and the rules differ between them. On a helmet with no internal shield that matters more than usual — you cannot simply retract it.
The clear MT-V-14B visor is supplied as standard; anything darker is a separate purchase and a daylight item.
HIRP and 1.5 kilograms
🔵 Compare this against a composite sport helmet honestly. A fibreglass shell of equal strength would be lighter and cost two to three times as much; carbon more again. That is the entire argument, and it is legitimate in both directions.
The Targo S is HIRP at roughly 1.5 kg, with dual ECE 22.06 / DOT approval.
MT-V-14B, MT-QVSS and the anti-fog insert you buy separately
Look after the visor and it will outlast the padding. Never wipe a dry visor — road dust is abrasive and dragging it across the surface leaves permanent fine scratches that flare against oncoming headlights at night.
🔵 Wet it first, every time. MT-QVSS makes replacing a scratched visor straightforward when the time comes.
The MT-Micrometric+ closure
Practise fastening it once with the gloves you actually ride in. A micrometric ratchet is the easiest closure to operate in gloves, but the strap length has to be set correctly first — and that is done bare-handed, once.
🔵 Ratchets drift with use; a strap that has loosened lets the helmet move.
Interior, fit and the five-size range
Washing the lining is the single most effective maintenance you can do. Sweat breaks down foam over time, and a lining washed a few times a season lasts appreciably longer than one that never is.
🔵 Fit is still the specification that matters most, and with five sizes there is less room to fine-tune than on MT's wider ranges. Try it on and keep it on for ten minutes.
Universal UCS intercom housing
🔵 The most common reason riders abandon an intercom is a speaker pressing on the ear over a long day, and it is almost always a depth or positioning problem rather than a fault of the system.
Measure yours before assuming they will fit.
What a rider replica is — and is not
🔵 A note on resale, since replicas are often bought partly for it. A season-specific livery is more collectable and less liquid than a plain finish: it appeals strongly to a small group and not at all to everyone else.
The standard Outside versions are the easier ones to pass on.
Where it sits in MT's range
🔵 If an independent safety rating is part of your decision, note that only MT's Track SV currently carries one — four SHARP stars. The Targo S has never been listed, and nor has most of the range.
Every current MT full-face holds ECE 22.06; this one adds DOT.
When something wears out
🔵 Replacement cheek pads are the most useful spare part on any helmet and the least often bought. They correct a fit that has loosened with wear and solve a hot spot that would otherwise mean a different helmet — which on a five-size range matters more than usual.
Genuine MT pads and complete linings for the Targo S are available.

Rated. Certified. Lit.
“MCN ran it for six months and rated the value as incredible, and the visor mechanism is genuinely one of the best. Two things are missing: there is no sun visor, and one shell size covers every head — which is where the 1,550 g comes from.”
— the Inter-Pace crewECE 22.06.
HIRP shell — but only one shell size for the whole range.
Quiet compared with other helmets at this price.
Comfortable over longer rides.
One of the best visor-release mechanisms MCN has used.
Rated 4 of 5, though it mists easily without a Pinlock.
1,550 g, largely because of the single shell size.
One shell size across every helmet size.
MCN tested it for six months and called it incredible value.
