DescriptionThe whole story▼

On a bike with a bi-directional quickshifter, the clutch stops being a gearchange tool and becomes a low-speed one. That narrows what the DL800's left hand does and sharpens what it needs: not a light pull so much as a bite point that falls exactly where the fingers already are.

Key Features

  • CNC-machined from solid aluminium, black anodised
  • Milled Gilles face for a secure gloved grip
  • Bolts to the original master cylinder without adapters
  • Reach adjustable through 35 positions, set by hand
  • Central adjuster wheel, reachable from the riding position
  • Road legal in Germany under ABE No. KBA 91203

Machined and Treated

Solid aluminium, cut and anodised black, phosphated at the pivot. It arrives free of play. Since most of this lever's work now happens below walking pace, any slop in the pivot shows up directly as vagueness in the friction zone.

Setting a New Bike Up

A DL800 owner is usually configuring the bike from scratch: levers, screen, seat height. The clutch lever is the one to set with the engine running and the machine in gear, because the point you feel on the stand is not the point you get when the clutch is loaded.

Fine Steps Matter More Than Many Steps

Thirty-five detents sound excessive until the friction zone is the only part of the travel you use. Then the difference between two adjacent settings is something you can genuinely feel, and coarse adjustment means accepting the least wrong of four.

Road Approval

Approved for German roads under ABE No. KBA 91203, downloadable from this page. No entry in the documents and no testing-organisation inspection are needed.

Scope of Delivery

A single black clutch lever for the DL800 V-Strom. The switch actuation is carried over from the factory lever and is not part of the delivery.
