DescriptionThe whole story▼
By 2018 the Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom had been on sale in one shape or another for well over a decade, and the bikes from those final two seasons are the ones that come up most often in the small ads today. They are bought by riders who want a large, plain, twin-cylinder tourer without surprises. Accossato's application list gives the DL1000 V-Strom for 2018 and 2019 under the FC122, a quick-release fuel tank cap made from aluminium with a coloured pin in the pawl.
Key Features
- Quick-release fuel tank cap for the Suzuki DL1000 V-Strom, 2018 and 2019
- Aluminium throughout, machined on CNC equipment
- Quick-closing pawl instead of a slow twist and turn
- Pin available in blue, green, black, red, silver or gold
- A damaged pawl can be reordered on its own
- Fresh design from Accossato of Villastellone
- Match your bike against the application list before ordering
- No German ABE documented; track use only
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato, whose works stand at Villastellone south of Turin, cuts the whole FC122 from aluminium on CNC machinery and puts it forward as a robust, long-lasting part with a new look. The closure is a quick-closing pawl: a short movement opens the DL1000's tank, a second one closes it. Colour enters through the pin in the pawl, which is specified when you order and comes in six shades, from a discreet black or silver to red, blue, green and gold. Because the pawl is catalogued as a spare in its own right, a knock in the paddock does not turn into a new cap.
The Last Two Seasons of the Big V-Strom
A run-out model has its own logic. Development has stopped, the dealers know the machine inside out, and the bikes tend to be well sorted by the time they reach a second owner. What changes over the years is the supply of small parts, which is one reason a filler cap with a separately available pawl is easier to live with than a sealed assembly. Riders who take a late DL1000 to a training day or a closed course find the same thing: the jobs that used to feel awkward with cold hands are the ones worth simplifying. Opening the tank is one of them. With the engine off, the bike upright on level ground and the can ready, the pawl is released, the fuel goes in and the cap is pressed home again before the group is called back out.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the DL 1000 V-Strom for 2018 and 2019, which are the two model years this listing covers. Earlier DL1000 machines are not named in the entry for this cap, so check the year of yours before ordering. The same FC122 appears in our catalogue under the SV650, the GSR750 and the GSX-S1000, among other Suzuki models.
Road Approval
Accossato documents neither a German ABE nor a parts certificate for the FC122, which keeps it to closed courses. The V-Strom's standard cap normally locks with the ignition key and is the one to use on the road.
Scope of Delivery
One FC122 fuel tank cap by Accossato with the pin colour you order. The pawl is also sold as a separate spare.
