DescriptionThe whole story▼
Ducati named the Diavel after the Bolognese word for devil, and the first-generation bike lived up to it: a low, muscular cruiser with a superbike-derived twin and a very wide rear tyre. It is often ridden into town on warm evenings and parked in front of a café on a cobbled square. Cobbles and tram lines are slippery in the wet and treacherous at walking pace. For the Diavel of 2012 to 2015, Accossato lists the PF030 front axle sliders, a black pair made of aluminium and plastic.
Key Features
- Front axle sliders for the Ducati Diavel, 2012 to 2015
- Accossato code PF030, colour black
- Aluminium and plastic construction
- Two protectors, one for each side
- Spacers, screws and all other mounting parts included, according to Accossato
- Meant to make first contact and help limit damage at the fork ends
- Pairs with the TP046 crash pads for the Diavel
- No German ABE; for track and competition use
Construction and Material Quality
The PF030 is built from aluminium and plastic and finished in black, which sits well with the dark, heavy look many Diavel owners favour. There are two protectors in each pack, and Accossato includes spacers, screws and all other parts needed to fit them. The description does not say how they are positioned on the Diavel, and we do not add details that are not documented. What they are for is clear enough: to take the first contact if the bike slides, so that the fork may come away with less.
Cobbles, Tram Lines and a Café Stop
Old towns are beautiful to ride through and awkward to ride on. Cobbles polished by decades of traffic lose their grip when damp, tram lines catch a tyre that meets them at a shallow angle, and the approach to a café often involves a slow turn on a slope. The Diavel's low seat gives confidence, but at walking pace a wet cobble can still let the front slide away. When that happens, the bike falls onto its side and the fork ends, bar ends and footpegs make contact. Front axle sliders are meant to take that first contact. Cross tram lines at as wide an angle as possible, avoid braking on painted areas and polished stone, and park on level ground with the side stand on a firm spot. After a slide, check the sliders and the fork before riding home, and replace a protector that has been scraped through.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the PF030 for the Diavel from 2012 to 2015. The TP046 crash pads for the same bike cover 2011 to 2018 and complement the sliders. In our garage the part is filed under the Diavel with the 1200 engine. Once they are on, let the front wheel turn freely and steer to both stops; neither the calipers nor the mudguard may touch the protectors. The screws are tightened as Ducati's manual prescribes.
Road Approval
The PF030 has no German ABE or test mark on record with us, which places it among our competition parts.
