DescriptionThe whole story▼
Rain changes a supermoto day completely. The tarmac loses much of its grip, road tyres take longer to warm, and every exit from a slow corner becomes a test of how gently the drive can be fed to the rear wheel. On a Kawasaki KLX 250 D-Tracker, much of that finesse comes from the clutch. For the 2008 to 2016 bikes, Accossato offers the C7127, a folding clutch lever machined in Italy from Ergal 7075, with a long blade for four fingers and a joint that allows it to fold forward in a fall.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Kawasaki KLX 250 D-Tracker, 2008 to 2016
- Installed at the original clutch mount
- Longer blade, room for four fingers
- Anti-break joint gives the blade room to move forward on impact
- Machined from solid Ergal 7075 in Italy
- Black or green blade on a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for track use only
Construction and Material Quality
The C7127 is cut from solid Ergal 7075 on CNC equipment in Italy. The alloy is one of the high-strength aluminium grades, and Accossato uses it to make levers that are strong, light and reliable. There are two parts: a dark base on the pivot of the clutch mount, which holds the joint, and a blade in black or green that can fold forward on it. As a clutch lever, the C7127 has the longer blade, drawn for four fingers, which gives a gloved hand room to feather the engagement precisely.
Feeding Drive on Wet Tarmac
On a wet track the rear tyre spins long before the engine runs out of pull. Riders manage it by short-shifting, using a higher gear than normal out of slow corners, and by letting the clutch out a little more slowly than in the dry so that the drive arrives progressively. Some slip the clutch briefly as they open the throttle, until the bike is upright and the tyre can take more. The rest is patience: waiting a fraction longer before accelerating and accepting a slower lap. On a KLX 250 D-Tracker the clutch lever does more work in the wet than on any dry day.
Rain also means more falls, most of them slow lowsides as a tyre lets go on a painted line or a damp patch. The bike slides on a wet surface for some distance, and a lever on the underside can be ground down or snapped. If the KLX 250 D-Tracker goes down on its left, the joint of the C7127 gives the blade a chance of folding forward out of the way. A lever that has folded and survived still deserves a close look at the next stop, since a blade with a hidden crack is not something to take back onto a wet track.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the C7127 for the Kawasaki KLX 250 D-Tracker from 2008 to 2016, fitted at the original clutch mount. The B8145 folding brake lever is listed a year further, to 2017; for the 2008 to 2016 bikes, both sides can therefore be matched in black or green.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for the C7127, so it is not approved for public roads, even on a registered KLX 250 D-Tracker; it is intended for supermoto circuits and closed ground.
Scope of Delivery
