DescriptionThe whole story▼

When Kawasaki revealed the Z1 in 1972, Accossato had been building competition motorcycles near Turin for three years. The Z900RS brings the Z1's look back around a modern four-cylinder engine, and the Accossato EDF088 is a brake lever for it from a company with roots in the same period. Listed for the Z900RS from 2018 to 2024, it is CNC-machined from aluminium and anodised, mounts on the original master cylinder and lets you adjust how far the blade stands off the bar.

Key Features

  • Front brake lever for the Kawasaki Z900RS, 2018 to 2024
  • Fits the original master cylinder
  • Reach adjustable
  • Seven colours, including silver and black for a period look
  • Standard blade approx. 138 mm in every colour; short and long in selected colours
  • CNC-machined from aluminium, anodised, black hub
  • Fixed blade without hinge

Construction and Material Quality

Modern methods rather than period ones shape the EDF088. CNC machining gives it tight tolerances at the pivot and a consistent form, and anodising, rather than polish or paint, makes the finish part of the metal itself. The hub, with the pivot and reach adjuster, is black in every version; the blade carries the colour. It is a fixed lever, one rigid piece with no folding joint, so the feel at the fingers stays the same over the years.

Two Names From the Same Era

Both stories begin with competition. Kawasaki's Z1 was a high-performance four-cylinder that was soon being raced and tuned, and Accossato started in 1969 in Moncalieri, just south of Turin, as a builder of competition motorcycles. Nearly half a century later, the Z900RS keeps the Z1's teardrop tank and round headlight while its chassis and engine are entirely current, and the lever on its bar can follow the same idea: modern in function, restrained in appearance. A silver blade echoes the brightwork of 1970s motorcycles, black suits the darker paint schemes, and both come in the standard length of approximately 138 mm, silver also as a short lever. Blue, gold, green and orange add more colour if your Z900RS wears a bolder scheme. Whichever you choose, set the reach once in your usual gloves, and the lever will feel like part of the bike.

Fitment and Compatibility

For the Z900RS of 2018 to 2024, Accossato's entry Z 900 RS names the EDF088, which replaces the lever on the original front master cylinder. The list also gives the EDF021 for a Z900RS Special Edition of 2018 and 2019, so if your bike is registered under that name, compare your original lever with the photos of both before ordering. The clutch lever for the Z900RS is the ESK750, listed for 2018 to 2020.

Road Approval

There is no German ABE on record for the EDF088, and the lever is sold for circuit use.
