DescriptionThe whole story▼
ECE 22.06-certified and built from a full ultra-carbon shell, the Nolan X-804 RS Ultra Carbon D.O.C. in Grey Gloss Finish 358 sets the safety standard for race-sport helmets without surrendering a gram of comfort or style. Designed, developed and manufactured in Italy, it channels the engineering discipline of the Italian racing elite into a helmet equally at home on the track and the open road.
Key Features
- ECE 22.06 homologation — the most stringent current European safety standard, validated for both road and circuit use.
- Full ultra-carbon shell in four sizes with six EPS density layers, delivering maximum impact protection at approximately 1,420 g ±50 g.
- NERS emergency release system and double-D fastening ring — race-proven retention trusted at the highest level of competition.
- Ultra-wide visor with a 97° vertical and 225° horizontal field of view, fitted with SVLS (Safety Visor Lock System) to prevent unintended opening at speed.
- RAF (Racing Air Flow) ventilation developed in wind-tunnel testing: 1 chin intake, 1 central front intake, 2 upper intakes with diffuser function, 2 lateral exhausts and a rear-spoiler extraction channel.
- EA (Eyewear Adaptive) interior construction makes this helmet compatible with prescription glasses.
Safety Architecture
The certification that matters most to any serious rider is ECE 22.06, and the X-804 RS carries it unconditionally. The ultra-carbon outer shell resists deformation under extreme impact loads while keeping the overall weight to approximately 1,420 g ±50 g — a figure that directly reduces neck fatigue during long track sessions and contributes to a more stable head position at high speed. Four distinct shell sizes paired with six EPS liners mean the energy-absorption geometry is optimised for your actual head circumference, not simply stretched or shrunk from a single mould. The NERS emergency release system allows paramedics to remove the helmet safely without additional tools, and the traditional double-D ring closure eliminates any ambiguity about retention security.
Racing Air Flow Ventilation
The RAF system was engineered specifically for extreme race conditions, using computational fluid dynamics to position each vent for maximum throughput with minimum turbulence. A chin-bar intake carries ambient air across the face shield to suppress fogging, the central front intake feeds a cooling channel over the crown, and the twin upper intakes work with diffuser geometry to draw air through the interior. Two lateral exhausts and the integrated rear spoiler extraction channel evacuate heat continuously, while an open-mesh inner cap distributes airflow evenly around the head. The result is a demonstrably dry, controlled internal climate even in sustained high-output riding.
Visor Technology
The ultra-wide flat visor spans 97° vertically and 225° horizontally, giving a field of view that is genuinely race-grade. The SVLS (Safety Visor Lock System) locks the visor positively at every detent, preventing flutter or unintended lift at high speed. Pinlock tension is adjustable from outside the helmet without removing it, and the included Pinlock insert eliminates condensation in cold or wet conditions. The kit includes a clear visor for daytime road use and a dedicated dark track-only visor with tear-off preparation, giving you the right optical tool for every condition.
Interior Comfort and Fit
Nolan's LAF (Liner Adjustable Fitting) system allows the interior padding to be positioned precisely for individual head shapes, working alongside the LPC (Liner Position Control) height-adjustment mechanism. The Steady Fit 3D cheek pads are available in multiple thicknesses and are both removable and machine washable. The Carbon Fitting Racing Experience liner material is breathable, antibacterial and temperature-regulating, woven from premium Sakura polyamide that dries rapidly after intense use. A CamelBak-compatible hydration port is integrated for endurance track days, and the EA construction accommodates spectacle arms without pressure points.
Aerodynamics
The RAS (Racetrack Aerodynamic Spoiler) was shaped using CFD simulation to reduce lift and aerodynamic drag at top speed. It is fully detachable when not required, and the optimised tail profile is sculpted to allow free neck movement without generating additional turbulence. The combined effect of the rear spoiler and refined shell geometry is a helmet that remains stable, quiet and predictable at the speeds where aerodynamic forces are most significant.
Fitment and Compatibility
The Nolan X-804 RS Ultra Carbon D.O.C. Grey Gloss 358 is a universal full-face race-sport helmet approved for road use under ECE 22.06. It is not compatible with Nolan N-Com Bluetooth or intercom systems. It is suitable for spectacle wearers.
