Begin with the figure that settles most of this. The T12 is rated at 560 l/m²/sec. The standard P08 that fits the same housing is rated at 5,050. That is not a refinement of one medium into another, it is a different operating point altogether, and behind this airbox sits a supercharged litre engine that has a use for air. Most Tesi H2s should be running something else, and it seems fairer to say so at the top of the page than at the bottom of it.

The case against it, first

If this machine is used on sealed roads, on circuits, or anywhere the air is unremarkable, the specification is wrong for it and the standard element is right. Finer is not better; finer is a position on a trade, and at 7 microns very nearly all of the flow headroom has been spent. The element will also load sooner in ordinary conditions than a coarser one would, because it is catching material a coarser one lets through. None of that is a fault. It is exactly what the medium was built to do.

The conditions that justify it

Deep dust, airborne sand, long spells in the wake of other vehicles, routes where the next workshop is a day away — settings in which what the air carries is the limiting factor rather than what the engine could draw. There the arithmetic turns over: the flow given up was not going to be used for long anyway, while the material held back would otherwise have travelled through the engine and finished in the oil. Even then this is not a performance part. A panel in an unmodified airbox does not make a standard motorcycle stronger; it can only return the resistance it caused.

Care and cleaning

Compressed air held to the clean face of the PM153T12 and directed outward, unhurried, because a fine mat gives up its load more slowly than a weave. Water when air is no longer enough: lukewarm, a mild washing-up detergent, rinsed until nothing further comes away. Drying is done by moving air alone and takes as long as it takes — no hot-air gun, no radiator, no flame, since heat destroys the material. It is refitted dry and untreated. Made for the airbox of the Bimota Tesi H2 built from 2020 to 2026. Two machines are listed under this code, the Tesi H2 and the Tesi H2 Tera, both named in the Fitment tab.
