Of the four Suzukis sharing this airbox the GSX-S150 has the largest engine, so if a racing medium's extra airflow were ever going to find a taker here, this is where. The right place to do the sum honestly. Going from 125 to 150 is a modest increase in the air an engine draws. Going from the standard P08 to the P08 F1-85 multiplies what the medium passes by three, from 5,050 to 15,000 litres per square metre per second, and pays for it by opening the weave from 80 microns to 85. The two steps are not the same order of size, and the P08 already supplied more than this engine asks for. The best case on the list still does not close.
Key Features
- Racing spec: 85 microns of filtration, 15,000 l/m²/sec, dry polyester
- A step coarser than the standard P08's 80 microns — that is the price of the flow
- No oil in the medium, so no film reaches the sensors downstream
- Straight into the untouched airbox where the original came out
- Washed and reused for the life of the bike; two years of cover from purchase
- Built for racing — on a road-ridden GSX-S150 the P08 or P14 is more useful
Doing the arithmetic before the upgrade
An airflow rating describes what a square metre of material will pass on a test bench. What an engine draws is set by displacement, revs and how well it fills — on a 150 single a small figure, and one that does not move because the filter behind it changed. Where supply already exceeds demand across the rev range, more supply is not an improvement, only unused — and on the 125s sharing this element output is capped by law, so the surplus has no taker at all. The half that is not unused is the other one: a weave five microns wider hands on everything between 80 and 85 microns that used to be caught.
The direction that actually pays here
The GSX-S150 was built for markets that draw no line at 125 cm³, where roads are often dustier than a European catalogue model ever sees. That points the choice the other way. Sprint Filter place the P14, a dry nonwoven at 14 microns and 1,800 l/m²/sec, with dust, everyday riding and long distances; the P037 at 37 microns and 4,500 is the water-repellent weave for wet work; the P08 at 80 and 5,050 is the road and track standard. Finer always means more held back and less passed through — a trade, not a ranking. Since a 150 single cannot use the flow it would gain, the trade worth making runs toward retention.
Care and cleaning
Routine care of the PM250S F1-85 is compressed air at the clean face, driven outwards so the load lifts off the dirty side instead of being pressed in. If it is still marked, wash it in lukewarm water with a mild detergent and rinse until the water runs clear. Let it dry fully in open air — no heat, no flame — and fit it dry. The maintenance sheet lives in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-S150, built 2017 to 2020, replacing the standard element in the unmodified airbox. The same part covers the other small-capacity Suzukis on this housing and one machine from another marque, five in all; the list is in the Fitment tab.
