The GSX-S125 arrived in 2017 and is still in production, the longest-running machine on this element's fitment list. These filters are built to stay with the motorcycle rather than be replaced on an interval, so whichever weave goes in now is probably the one still there in ten years. The P08 F1-85 is the racing medium: it passes 15,000 litres per square metre per second where the standard P08 passes 5,050, and it buys that air by opening the weave from 80 microns to 85. That is a step backwards in filtration, and a commuting 125 has nowhere to put the extra air.
Key Features
- Dry polyester racing weave: 85 microns of filtration, 15,000 l/m²/sec
- Five microns coarser than the standard P08's 80 — the flow is paid for in retention
- Never oiled, so no film travels forward onto the intake sensors
- Takes the original element's place in the unaltered airbox; mapping untouched
- An air line is the whole service routine; two years of cover from purchase
- Specified for racing — on a road-going GSX-S125 the P08 or the P14 is the sounder buy
A decision that has to last a decade
A washable element is bought once, so the medium is chosen once — and on a model with ten years of production behind it, that choice has a long time to be wrong in. A GSX-S125 does short urban trips in the dirtiest air a motorcycle meets, the brake and tyre dust of the traffic ahead. Nothing in that asks for a wider flow path. Its appetite is set by displacement and capped again by its licence class, so the P08 already supplies more than can ever be called for. Tripling the supply changes nothing a rider will feel, while the coarser weave keeps handing on a larger share of the fine dust, trip after trip.
Which medium a commuting 125 wants
The media read like a ladder — F1-85 at 85 microns and 15,000 l/m²/sec, P08 at 80 and 5,050, P14 at 14 and 1,800 — but it is not a ranking. Every rung finer holds back more and passes less: a trade, decided by the air the motorcycle breathes. For a road-going GSX-S125 the P08 is the standard answer and our recommendation. Where the daily route is genuinely dusty the P14 is the better trade, because flow surrendered on a capped 125 costs the rider nothing. The F1-85 sits at the end that gives filtration away, and this machine has no use for what it gets back.
Care and cleaning
Servicing the PM250S F1-85 takes an air line and two minutes: compressed air goes through the medium the opposite way to normal flow, entering at the clean face so the dust leaves as it arrived. If more is wanted, lukewarm water and a mild detergent will do, rinsed until the water runs clear. Drying happens in open air and has to be complete — never with heat, never with a flame — and the element goes back in dry. The maintenance sheet is in the Downloads tab.
Fitment & Compatibility
Made for the Suzuki GSX-S125, 2017 to 2026, dropping into the standard airbox in place of the original. The same part covers the other small-capacity Suzukis on this housing and one machine from another marque, five machines in all; the full list is in the Fitment tab.
