DescriptionThe whole story▼
Not a part — a service. Spark repacks the silencing box of its Super Duke racing collector rather than selling you a new one, and at a fraction of what the collector costs it is the sensible answer to the maintenance Spark itself asks for.
Key Features
- Factory repacking of the silencing box in Spark's Super Duke racing collector.
- For the GKT8502 and GKT8503 collectors, KTM 1290 and 1390 Super Duke R.
- Restores the sound-absorbing packing rather than replacing the box.
- Around a seventh of the price of a new collector.
- The box has to be sent in — this is a service, not a shipped item.
- Spark recommends checking the packing every 15,000-20,000 km.
Why a Box Needs Repacking
The silencing box in Spark's racing collector contains sound-absorbing material, and that material is a consumable. Exhaust gas passing through it at high temperature and high velocity gradually blows it out and breaks it down.
What follows is not a failure but a drift: the exhaust gets louder over months, and because it happens slowly the rider rarely notices until a sound check does. Spark asks for the packing to be checked every 15,000 to 20,000 kilometres, or sooner if the box changes colour — a discolouring box is packing that has been running hot.
Repack or Replace
Most manufacturers offer only the second option. Spark listing a regeneration service means a box that has done its kilometres does not become a reason to buy a new collector.
The arithmetic is straightforward: the service costs roughly a seventh of a complete collector. For a bike that is ridden regularly on track, where packing goes faster than on the road, that difference repeats every couple of seasons.
How This Order Works
This is a service and not a shipped product, so it works differently from everything else on this site. The box has to reach Spark, be repacked and come back — please contact us before ordering so we can arrange the shipment and give you a realistic turnaround for the current workload.
If your motorcycle has to stay usable in the meantime, say so when you get in touch. That is worth planning around rather than discovering afterwards.
Fitment & Compatibility
The silencing box of Spark's racing collectors GKT8502 and GKT8503 for the KTM 1290 Super Duke R, 1290 Super Duke R EVO, 1390 Super Duke R and 1390 Super Duke R EVO, 2020 through 2026. The rear pipe as a replacement part is SGKT8502*03.
Road Approval
Not applicable. The service restores an existing component; the collector it belongs to has no EC certificate and removes the catalytic converter.
