DescriptionThe whole story▼

Twelve model years of Fireblade take this lever, from the SC59 to the SC82. Across all of them the clutch is used most in the first and last minute of a ride, and least in between. That first minute is where a lever set to the wrong span is most annoying, and where three settings pay off.

Key Features

  • Interchangeable cable mounts marked 32, 34 and 36 change the lever ratio on cable-operated clutches
  • CNC-machined from high-strength aluminium, anodised
  • Folding lever, swings clear instead of breaking in a fall
  • Double ball bearings instead of plain bushings, so the lever has no play
  • Span adjustment: three positions, the closest one as near the handlebar as possible
  • Approved under ABE No. KBA 91507 (Gilles)

Types SC59, SC591 and SC82

Gilles lists the CBR 1000 RR of 2012 to 2019 under these codes for this lever.

Double bearings

Two ball bearings replace the plain bushing, which keeps the action light and free of play.

Road Approval

The Honda CBR 1000 RR (SC59, SC591, SC591 ABS, SC77, SC82) appears in Gilles' fitment list for this number, which the manufacturer marks as approved under ABE No. KBA 91507. Keep the supplied certificate with the vehicle papers. The document itself is not published, so we make no statement about its conditions; we are happy to ask Gilles for you.

Scope of Delivery

In the box: one MPL clutch lever, ready to fit. The brake lever is ordered separately. The three cable mounts are part of the lever.

Fitting

Use the original fasteners and do not overtighten the pivot; the ball bearings need to turn freely. Set the span with the adjuster, check the function at a standstill, then confirm it again after the first few kilometres.
