DescriptionThe whole story▼
Beta has built trials bikes for decades, and the Xtrainer 300 carries something of that spirit into enduro: a two-stroke that is happiest when the ground gets difficult and the speed drops. On the Beta Xtrainer 300, getting up a ledge or a step is less about speed than about the clutch: a short burst of revs, a quick release, and the front wheel lifts onto the step. The C7283 from Accossato brings a folding clutch lever to the Xtrainer 300 of 2015 to 2022, CNC-machined in Italy from Ergal 7075 and long enough for four fingers.
Key Features
- Folding clutch lever for the Beta Xtrainer 300, 2015 to 2022
- Replaces the stock lever at the original clutch mount
- Long blade, laid out for four fingers
- Anti-break joint allows the blade to fold forward on impact
- CNC-machined in Italy from solid Ergal 7075
- Blade in black, blue, orange or red over a dark base
- No German ABE documented; for off-road riding and competition
Construction and Material Quality
Trials riders are particular about their levers, and with reason. Accossato machines the C7283 in Italy rather than casting it, starting from solid Ergal 7075, an aluminium alloy of high strength, because it wants a lever that is strong, light and reliable. The part consists of a dark base, fixed at the clutch pivot, and a coloured blade that folds on a joint. Its blade is long, drawn for four fingers, as befits a clutch lever.
Up the Ledge on the Clutch
The technique for a step comes straight from trials. Approach slowly with the front wheel square to the edge, pull in the clutch, raise the revs, then let the lever out sharply as the front reaches the step; the rear tyre bites, the front lifts and the bike climbs. With the front wheel on top, the rider shifts weight forward and lets the clutch drive the rear up behind it. On a hard enduro loop, that sequence may repeat dozens of times in an hour.
It does not always work. Release the clutch too fast and the bike loops; too slowly and it hits the step and stops. Either way the Xtrainer 300 often ends up on its side at the foot of the step, and when it falls to the left, the clutch lever strikes rock. The joint in the C7283 allows the blade to fold forward, so there is a chance it survives and you can try again. For a technique built entirely on the clutch, having a lever left after a failed attempt matters more than on almost any other terrain the Beta Xtrainer 300 will see.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato gives the Beta Xtrainer 300 from 2015 to 2022 as the fitment for the C7283, and the B8206 folding brake lever as its partner for the same years. Red is offered on both, and on a red Beta that is one way to match the controls to the bodywork. Black and blue are shared as well, while orange belongs to the clutch lever alone.
Road Approval
There is no German ABE for the C7283. On an Xtrainer 300 registered for the road it is not approved for public roads; it is intended for off-road riding and competition.
