DescriptionThe whole story▼
Pure is the plain line of the Jarama SV, and gloss white is the finish that suits the retro silhouette best — a café-racer shape reads more clearly in a light colour, because the curve of the shell is visible rather than lost in shadow.
A café-racer shape on a 2026 shell
The Jarama SV is a retro-styled full-face — a café-racer silhouette carrying current technology rather than period equipment. MT builds it as a tribute to its own history, and the shape is the reason to buy it.
🔵 Nothing about the safety is nostalgic: ECE 22.06 and DOT approval, a full-coverage sun visor and an anti-fog-ready visor. The 22.06 standard is the current one, not the superseded 22.05 many retro helmets still hold.
About the gloss white finish
A retro full-face is bought partly for its shape, and a pale gloss finish is the one that shows that shape honestly: the highlight traces the curve from the aperture to the crown, where a dark finish flattens it. On a helmet whose whole appeal is the silhouette, that matters more than it would on a sports lid. The practical case runs alongside it. White is the easiest shell here for a driver to resolve in the flat light a European city supplies for most of the year, and it stays cooler in summer sun than any dark finish — useful on a helmet MT quotes at 1475 g and pairs with a full-coverage sun visor. 🔵 The cost is dirt: road film and insect strike show on white sooner than on anything else in this range, and gloss shows swirls if you dry-wipe it. Wash it wet and dry it with a clean cloth. It is also the version that most clearly reads as a period helmet rather than a modern one, which for a café-racer shape is arguably the whole point of choosing it. And on a helmet with a size range this narrow, it is worth adding that white shows a poor fit as readily as it shows dirt — a shell sitting too high or too far back is obvious on a pale finish and hidden on a dark one. Try it on before ordering.
HIRP, 1475 grams, ECE 22.06 and DOT
The shell is HIRP — High Impact Resistant Polymer — at approximately 1475 g, which makes the Jarama SV the lightest full-face in MT's range.
🔵 It carries ECE 22.06 homologation and DOT approval, so it is road-legal across ECE markets and in the United States.
Sizes — read this before ordering
🔵 The Jarama SV runs XS to XL only — five sizes. Most of MT's range goes to XXL or 3XL, and this one does not. If your head circumference is above roughly 62 cm, this helmet will not fit you.
That is the single most important practical thing to know before ordering, and it is easy to miss.
The full-coverage sun visor
The integrated sun visor is full-coverage rather than the partial shield many helmets at this price fit — it drops across the whole usable field of view at the flick of a slider.
🔵 On a retro helmet that is what makes it an everyday proposition rather than a fair-weather one, and it is what the „SV" in the model name stands for.
MT-V-32, the rubber lip and the anti-fog insert you buy separately
The MT-V-32 visor changes through an easy quick-change mechanism and seals against the shell with a rubber lip rather than closing against bare plastic — which is what keeps wind and water out at speed.
🔵 It is ready for a Pinlock® DKS479 lens or a FogOff Fog012 insert, and neither is supplied.
How quiet it is — and what we actually know
MT cites low noise levels for the Jarama SV, and the plausible mechanism is the visor: a rubber-lipped seal against the shell closes the gap that leaks most on an inexpensive helmet.
🔵 That is the manufacturer's claim rather than a measured result. No independent noise test of this helmet exists, and we are not going to present a marketing line as a finding.
The MT-MDHC closure
Retention is MT-MDHC — a micrometric closure with a double-teeth engagement, which is what makes the lock feel positive rather than approximate.
🔵 Check the adjustment every few months. A ratchet has a set position that can drift, and the helmet should be snug enough that it cannot be rolled forward off your head.
Interior, fit and intercom preparation
The interior is fully removable and washable, with a UCS intercom pre-installation built in — unusual on a retro-styled helmet, where equipment is often the first thing sacrificed to the silhouette.
🔵 No system is supplied. Check speaker depth as well as diameter before buying one; depth is what decides whether a speaker presses on your ear.
Where it sits in MT's range
The Jarama SV is MT's retro full-face and the lightest full-face in the range at around 1475 g. Its siblings — the Braker SV, the Thunder 4 R SV and the Targo S — are all conventionally styled and all heavier.
🔵 What it gives up against them is the size range: XS to XL only.
When something wears out
Everything on this helmet that wears is available separately: the MT-V-32 visor, DKS479 Pinlock lenses, FogOff Fog012 inserts, cheek pads and the complete lining.
🔵 What cannot be replaced is a crushed EPS liner. After a real impact the helmet is finished, however it looks from outside.

“The retro shape is the reason to look and the price is the reason to buy. It is a full-face rather than an open helmet, which costs it ground in this category, and the ventilation is its weakest area.”
