DescriptionThe whole story▼
The only finish here that changes colour as you move around it. A chameleon pigment shifts through purple and grey depending on the angle of the light, over a carbon ground that keeps the effect from tipping into novelty.
A carbon shell in six sizes
🔵 The oblique impact test added in 22.06 is the most consequential change to European helmet approval in three decades. Rotation is behind a large share of serious head injuries, and 22.05 had no equivalent test at all.
The Vector II Carbon is homologated to the current standard.
No rating of its own — and what does transfer from the composite
🔵 For completeness, here is the result that does not apply to this helmet. SHARP's Vector 2 entry: 4 of 5, tested February 2025, composite fibre, 1.5 kg.
🟢 And the one that partly does: Certimoov 3.5 of 5, praising compactness and field of vision — both properties of the shell geometry this helmet shares.
Airflow that reaches your head
🔵 In winter you close the vents and rely on the supplied Pinlock 120 MaxVision; in summer you open them and use the included tinted visor. Both are in the box rather than on an accessory list.
The chin intake helps keep the visor clear in between.
About the Savage chameleon graphic
Colour-shift pigments work by interference rather than absorption: microscopically thin layers reflect different wavelengths at different viewing angles, which is why the colour appears to travel across the shell as you walk past. It is a genuinely different optical effect from a metallic flake, it is expensive to apply well, and it appears rarely at any price. The carbon ground is the right decision here — a solid colour underneath would add its own reflections and fight the effect, while a weave lets the pigment be the only thing moving. 🔵 Two honest points. The effect is largely lost in flat overcast light, which is precisely when a helmet most needs to be seen, so treat this as a visual choice rather than a conspicuity one. If being seen is what matters, the Savage white version at the same price does considerably more work at a junction. And like every pigmented graphic it cannot be touched in after a deep scratch. Of the eleven finishes here this is the one most likely to be bought for how it looks and the one least likely to be bought for what it does. That is a perfectly reasonable basis — it is a genuinely rare effect at this price — as long as the trade is a deliberate one rather than a surprise on a wet November afternoon.
Three visors, one helmet
If you wear prescription glasses, an integrated shield is far more practical than prescription sunglasses or a tinted visor: it moves without removing anything, and it moves while you are riding.
🔵 Check it clears your frames when you try the helmet on — and note Certimoov's reservation about the mechanism.
Holding on, and letting go
🟢 A micrometric closure gives you fine adjustment rather than a choice between two positions: you set the strap to the millimetre and return to the same place every time.
🔵 The strap it sits on is reinforced where it meets the shell.
The part you actually touch
🟢 The close fit is a safety property rather than an oversight: the liner protects you where it is in contact with your head, and a helmet that moves before it starts working protects less.
🔵 It is also why the helmet is awkward to pull on, which Certimoov noted about this platform.
Carbon or composite — which Vector II to buy
🟢 Against carbon full-faces from other brands at this money, the arguments here are unusual: six shell sizes, a Pinlock 120 and a complete tinted visor in the box, and a carrying backpack.
🔵 Add those two accessories to a cheaper helmet before comparing sticker prices.
Care and replacement parts
🔵 Wash the lining a few times a season in cool water and dry it away from direct heat. Sweat degrades foam, and the foam is what holds the helmet in position on your head.
The whole interior lifts out by hand in about two minutes.

Size guide
🔵 Fit matters more than any specification on this page — more than the carbon, more than the weight. The liner protects you where it is in contact with your head.
Measure, try, and keep it on for ten minutes.

Specification
- Model — LS2 FF811 Vector II Carbon
- Part number — 168115405
- Colour — Savage — Chameleon over carbon
- Homologation — ECE 22.06
- 🔴 Safety rating — none. SHARP's „LS2 Vector 2" 4 stars (02/2025) records composite fibre, 1.5 kg — the HPFC version, not this carbon at 1400 g. Not carried over
- 🟢 What does transfer — Certimoov rated the FF811 platform 3.5/5 on a fibreglass Splitter. Compactness and field of vision transfer (shared geometry); impact scores do not. 🔵 criticised: getting the helmet on, and the sun visor mechanism
- Shell — 6K woven carbon, structural — not a carbon-look wrap; six shell sizes (2XS–XS / S / M / L / XL / 2XL–3XL–4XL)
- Impact liner — multi-density EPS with ventilation ducts moulded through the foam
- Weight — approx. 1400 g (±50 g). 🔵 the composite Vector II is 1500 g — carbon saves 100 g at a higher price
- Sizes — XXS to 4XL (nine sizes). Shell prepared for LS2's Bluetooth unit; no system supplied
- Visor — wide, hardcoated, UV-protected, quick-change
- Sun visor — integrated drop-down shield, stowing fully inside the shell. 🔵 Certimoov called the mechanism improvable
- 🟢 Included — Pinlock® 120 XLT MaxVision™, a complete tinted visor, a carrying backpack and reflective stickers
- 🔴 Tinted visor — daylight only — most European jurisdictions bar tinted visors at night
- Ventilation — Dynamic Flow-Through — chin and forehead intakes, ducts in the EPS, rear exit. 🔵 left unrated: nothing measured on the carbon version
- 🔴 Wind noise — left unrated — no independent measurement is published for this model
- Retention — reinforced strap, micrometric metal fastener, emergency-release tabs for the cheek pads
- Interior — breathable, hypoallergenic, X-Static® silver, laser-cut, removable. 🔵 the composite Vector II is not listed with X-Static
- 🔴 FIM homologation — none — a road helmet, not eligible for FIM-sanctioned competition
- Serviceability — both visors, sun visor, Pinlock insert, cheek pads (several thicknesses), lining and vent covers
- Replacement guidance — after about five years, and immediately after any impact — carbon hides a crushed liner
