DescriptionThe whole story▼
Raul Fernandez took his maiden MotoGP victory in the 2025 season, Trackhouse Racing's first premier-class win, after arriving in the class in 2022 on the back of an eight-win Moto2 runner-up campaign. This matte anthracite decor, with pale blue graphic breaks over a grey camouflage-style texture, carries his name into a winter-test livery — Shark's own naming for it, not tied to a specific race weekend.
ECE 22.06, in plain terms
A certification code means little without the detail behind it. Since January 2024 the EU has required ECE 22.06 for newly homologated helmets, and it is a considerably harder programme than the 22.05 it replaced: the shell takes eighteen strikes rather than five, at more than one speed each, plus a new angled impact against an abrasive surface that twists and grazes the shell instead of dropping it straight down.
And then there is FIM FRHPhe-02
ECE 22.06 covers the road. A separate, harder test covers the racetrack: FIM FRHPhe-02, present on every size and decor in this range under Shark's own norm code 2206-FIM2. Set against the earlier FRHPhe rule, the newer standard brings fresh strike angles, a wider spread of test points across the shell, stiffer structural targets, and a reworked visor-locking mechanism aimed at keeping the visor closed through a crash rather than letting it pop open.
What the Adaptive Aero System is actually doing back there
The raised piece at the rear of this shell isn't styling — it's a patented, movable spoiler, Shark's Adaptive Aero System, built to change shape rather than hold one profile. It reacts on its own to the rider's build, to the added bulk a leather suit's back hump puts into the airflow, and to whether the rider is tucked in or sat upright.
Under the paint: the shell itself
Peel back this decor's graphic and the shell is the same COVA carbon-aramid build shared across the range, roughly four parts carbon to one part aramid, moulded in two distinct sizes rather than a single shape covering everyone. Four separate EPS density zones grade the liner's firmness inside the shell instead of a single foam type, and closure runs through a double-D ring, which resists loosening under load where a quick-release buckle can fail in a hard fall.
The number that matters at the end of a session, not the start
Nobody notices a helmet's mass putting it on — it's felt in the closing laps, once neck and shoulder muscles holding a static load start to fatigue. Shark's quoted figure, 1,480 g, is for the smaller of the two shells; the bigger shell, used for the larger sizes, will run somewhat heavier for the same build. Shark's own account of the FIM #2 upgrade states weight, fit and aero carried over unchanged from FIM #1 — the tighter certification wasn't bought with added mass.
How air moves through the shell
Seven extractors and five intakes handle airflow here on a Double Venturi principle, worked out using the same CFD process behind the rear spoiler. Building vents and aerodynamics together rather than separately means cooling doesn't have to fight the airflow the spoiler is managing — neither one compromises the other.
What you actually see through
Optical class 1 glazing gives a 220-degree lateral field and 57 degrees vertically, on a four-point anchor with side grip and locking pin rather than a single catch that could work loose. It comes tear-off ready from the factory — a genuinely racing-focused feature rather than a spec-sheet add-on.
Safety kit
Four separate EPS density zones grade the liner inside this shell, and Shark's Emergency Remove System — cheek pads built for a first responder to pull free without moving the rider's neck — is fitted as standard. There is no MIPS liner or comparable rotational-impact system on this helmet; nothing in Shark's own documentation for this model mentions one, so none is claimed here.
Raul Fernandez, and an honest note on the missing year
Raul Fernandez is a Spanish MotoGP rider who arrived in the premier class in 2022 off the back of an eight-win Moto2 runner-up season, then spent three seasons across three different teams without a podium before his breakthrough 2025 campaign, in which he took his maiden MotoGP victory — Trackhouse Racing's first win in the class. He enters the 2026 season as Trackhouse's senior rider, with reigning Moto2 champion Ai Ogura joining as his rookie teammate.
Where the price actually comes from
This decor's price isn't an arbitrary flagship figure — it's the top rung of a genuine three-step ladder inside Shark's own Aeron range. Non-FIM Aeron and Aeron GP models start that ladder. The earlier FIM generation, Aeron GP FIM, certified FRHPhe rather than FRHPhe-02, sits a step above. This decor's premium over that predecessor goes entirely toward the newer, stricter FIM #2 homologation covered above, not a different shell or spoiler.

Wind noise, without a made-up number
No source reliable enough to cite gives a decibel figure for this helmet, so this listing carries none. The real noise-reducing features are a seal at the visor opening and a chin curtain at the base of the shell, aimed at the gaps most speed-noise comes through. Built around an active spoiler and cooling-focused vents rather than hush, that priority is named here rather than hidden behind an invented figure.
Spare visors, confirmed by name
Shark's spare-parts collection carries four model names in its own title — Aeron, Aeron GP, Aeron GP FIM 1, Aeron GP FIM 2 — this helmet named outright rather than assumed. A crash-damaged or scratched visor on a racing shell like this is a reorder, not a reason to replace the whole thing.
An honest list of what this helmet skips
No MIPS or equivalent rotational-impact liner is fitted here. There's no Pinlock insert as standard; the visor relies on anti-fog and anti-scratch coatings instead. No internal sun visor is fitted. SHARP's published 4-star score for a model called "Aeron GP" belongs to a different, non-FIM Shark helmet at a lower price point — not this FIM2-certified one — and it isn't quoted as if it applied here. No trustworthy independent wind-noise figure exists for this model, and none is invented.
