Size chart MT Helmets Genesis R SV
| Size | Head circumference (cm) | Head circumference (inch) |
|---|---|---|
| XS | 53–54 cm | 20.9–21.3 in |
| S | 55–56 cm | 21.7–22.0 in |
| M | 57–58 cm | 22.4–22.8 in |
| L | 59–60 cm | 23.2–23.6 in |
| XL | 61–62 cm | 24.0–24.4 in |
| XXL | 63–64 cm | 24.8–25.2 in |

How to measure your helmet size correctly: Measure your head circumference with a flexible tape around the widest part of the head, about 1–2 cm above the eyebrows. Measure 2–3 times and compare with the chart. Between sizes, usually choose the larger size.
Important note on fit
The right helmet should fit firmly without uncomfortable pressure points. A new helmet may feel a little tighter at first, as the inner lining adapts slightly over time.

Deep navy with broad cyan and mid-blue blocks cutting across the flank in hard angles, and GENESIS R lettered in a fine hatched panel at the rear. Lancer C7 is the other design MT puts on this shell, and it works on a completely different principle from the Vibe.
Lancer against Vibe
The Vibe is a chevron design: repeated forward-pointing forms that make the shell read longer. Lancer does the opposite — large angular blocks that break the shell into areas rather than following its length.
The practical effect is worth knowing before you choose. The Vibe reads as a stripe from a distance; the Lancer reads as a two-tone object, and a two-tone object stays legible further away than a stripe does. If being noticed matters more to you than looking fast, this is the one of the two that does it.
About the Lancer C7 finish
Matt. The base is a deep navy; over it sit large cyan and mid-blue blocks with hard diagonal edges, running from the chin bar up across the flank and into the crown. GENESIS R sits in a hatched panel at the tail, and the chin bar carries a further cyan wedge.
A cool monochrome scheme — three values of one hue rather than contrasting colours — is unusual on a helmet and the reason this one looks considered rather than loud. It also has a practical advantage: nothing on it clashes with anything, which is not something you can say about a red or an orange design.
The trade is that a single-hue helmet is less conspicuous than a two-colour one at distance, because the contrast that peripheral vision resolves is between the helmet and its background, not within the helmet. On a grey road under a grey sky a navy helmet is doing less work than a white one. That is not an argument against buying it — it is an argument for reflective material on the jacket, which is the part of your kit that never depends on the light.
The 935 screen
The Genesis R SV uses the 935 screen: a wide field of view, and preparation for Pinlock DKS279 or DKS002.
Two Pinlock references rather than one is worth a sentence. It means the screen has been produced in more than one pin configuration over the model's life, so check which your helmet takes before ordering an insert — the pins are visible at the edges of the screen and the reference is moulded near them.
No insert is supplied with the helmet.
Why the insert matters on a modular specifically: a Pinlock is a second lens on two pins, sealed by a silicone bead; the trapped air keeps the inner surface above dew point so breath finds nothing cold to condense on.
On a flip-up there is a specific reason to have one. When a visor fogs the instinctive fix on a modular is to lift the whole chin bar, which works — and means riding with the front of the helmet in the airstream, in a configuration MT does not publish an approval for. An insert removes the temptation.
ECE 22.06 · no DOT
The current European standard, mandatory since January 2024. It tests 18 impact points rather than the 22.05's five, at several speeds, adds an oblique impact against an abrasive anvil for rotational loading, and applies a Brain Injury Criterion ceiling. No DOT marking is published for the Genesis R SV.
P or J: not published
The strap label carries a P, a J or both, showing whether the helmet is approved to be ridden closed, open, or either. MT does not state which applies here — so ride it closed, and read the label if it matters to you.
The chin bar
A modular structure with a locking system: the bar rotates up and back over the crown, and the latch engages when it comes down. Test how it closes rather than how it opens — one movement, one audible click, no help needed.
Sun visor
An integrated drop-down shade operated by a slider. It is the equipment that decides whether a helmet gets used all year: always present, never left at home, and out of the way the moment you enter a tunnel.
The weight MT has not published
There is no gram figure for the Genesis R SV in MT's material. We hold an internal estimate based on their comparable modular and have flagged it as an estimate rather than printing it here as a specification.
If the number matters to your decision, ask us — we will weigh one before it ships rather than repeat a figure nobody has measured.
Retention and interior
A micrometric ratchet holds the strap; the lining is fully removable and washable, with space for intercom speakers.
Hand-wash only. A machine's spin cycle permanently flattens the closed-cell foam inside a cheek pad, and a flattened pad is a helmet that has quietly become a size too large.
The interior
Fully removable and washable, with recesses for intercom speakers.
On a modular the lining takes more handling than on a full-face, because the chin bar comes past your face several times a day and the cheek pads are what it brushes. Take them out two or three times a season, wash them by hand in lukewarm water and dry them away from heat — a pad dried on a radiator never sits the same again.
On the paint, finally: matt has no correction path — a swirl or a scuff in the clearcoat is permanent, where the same mark polishes out of gloss. Never wipe a dry shell — road dust is abrasive, and that is exactly how those marks appear.
