DescriptionThe whole story▼
Small hands and a fixed lever are a bad combination on a Z400. The LighTech LEVD139K is the folding Model K (ALIEN) brake lever: magnesium and aluminium, 250 g, with black rubber inserts for grip, with other colours available separately. It bolts to the Z400 with the original hardware — nothing else is needed.
Key Features
- Uses the original pivot and perch of the Z400 — no adapter
- Reach adjustment the original Z400 lever does not offer
- Developed for the braking loads a Z400 actually generates
- Folds away on contact, which is what keeps a Z400 rideable after a drop
- It costs less than the bodywork a folding lever protects
- A stock LighTech item rather than a special order
Fitting
Fitting the LEVD139K does not disturb the hydraulics of the Z400. Torque the pivot bolt to the Z400 figure — overtightening stops the blade folding. The original lever goes back on the Z400 any time.
What It Fits
LighTech lists the LEVD139K for the Kawasaki Z400. Nothing on the Z400 is drilled; the factory lever comes off and this one goes on.
Reach, Weight, Survival
A brake lever that does not fold is a brake lever that breaks. The LEVD139K carries LighTech's reach adjustment, which the original Z400 lever does not. At 250 g the LEVD139K is lighter than the original on the Z400.
The Three Lever Models
Model K is the version with grip inserts in the blade. The inserts arrive black; a colour change later is an insert order, not a lever order. The other two models in the range — the plain black J and the newer H geometry — share the same material and the same folding mechanism.
Scope of Delivery
The LEVD139K arrives as a single lever with its pivot hardware. A matched pair on the Z400 means ordering both sides.
Regulations
According to LighTech, the range meets the requirements of the applicable road regulations. We pass that on as LighTech's claim. No German approval document accompanies the LEVD139K. Clarify it in advance if the Z400 is used on public roads.
