DescriptionThe whole story▼
Aluminium, not carbon. Akrapovic makes muffler brackets in both, and for the R7 it chose metal — which says something about where this bracket sits and what it has to survive on a machine built for circuit use.
Key Features
- Aluminium construction
- For the Racing Lines S-Y7R15-APT and S-Y7R14-HAPT
- Needed once the passenger footpegs come off
- Covers the 2026 Yamaha R7
- Akrapovic publishes no weight figure
The Problem It Solves
On the R7 the silencer hangs from the passenger footpeg mount. Club racing regulations require those pegs to be removed, most track day organisers ask for it, and the moment they come off the exhaust has nothing holding its rear end.
This bracket takes over that job. Without it a rider who has prepared the bike correctly for the circuit cannot fit the exhaust they bought for it.
Two Racing Lines, One Bracket
Akrapovic names both systems it belongs to: S-Y7R15-APT and S-Y7R14-HAPT, the two titanium Racing Lines for the 2026 R7. They differ in construction and price; the bracket is the same for either.
If your R7 wears a Slip-On rather than a Racing Line, check before ordering — this bracket is specified for the complete systems.
Why Aluminium Here
Carbon is lighter and Akrapovic uses it for the equivalent bracket on other machines. Aluminium is more forgiving of a point load and easier to inspect after a fall, and on a bike that will be crashed at some point in its life that is a reasonable trade.
It is also cheaper to produce, which matters on a part that only some customers will ever need.
No Published Weight
Akrapovic gives no figure and none is invented here. For context, the carbon bracket the company makes for a different superbike is quoted at 100 grams against a 300 gram standard mount — that is a different part on a different motorcycle, and it is offered only as a sense of scale.
What the Standard Mount Is Doing
Yamaha combines the pillion peg carrier and the exhaust hanger into one casting, which saves the factory a part and a fastener. It is a sensible piece of design for a road bike and an inconvenient one for a race bike, because the two functions cannot be separated without a replacement for the half that stays.
A New Motorcycle
Yamaha revised the R7 for 2026. Being among the first accessories available for it is part of why this bracket exists at all, and it means the fitment list will stay short for a while.
Optional, Not Automatic
Worth saying plainly: an R7 with its pillion footpegs still fitted does not need this. The Racing Line mounts to the standard hanger perfectly well. The bracket is for one specific configuration and buying it outside that configuration buys a spare part.
Road Approval
Not applicable. A mounting bracket carries no emissions or noise approval. Whether the motorcycle may be ridden on the road depends on the exhaust — and both Racing Lines this bracket serves are track systems.
