DescriptionThe whole story▼
A hand-laid carbon part from a Slovenian exhaust maker for a Chinese adventure bike. That combination was unthinkable a decade ago, and it says more about how far CFMOTO has come than any specification sheet would.
Key Features
- Hand-crafted carbon fibre, built to the standard of the exhaust
- Made for the Akrapovic Slip-On Line S-CF8SO4-HFTT
- Protects the rider and equipment strapped alongside
- Plug and play — no modification needed
- Covers the 800MT from 2024
The X Matters
CFMOTO sells the 800MT and the 800MT-X, and Akrapovic makes a separate shield for each. The two part numbers differ by a single character and the bikes differ in bodywork around the exhaust.
This is the shield for the 800MT. Check the badge on the tank before ordering; on a price list the two are almost indistinguishable.
It Belongs to One Silencer
Akrapovic designed this shield around the Slip-On Line S-CF8SO4-HFTT for the 800MT. On the standard CFMOTO exhaust the mounting geometry is different, and the visual argument for a matched carbon part disappears with it.
More Than the Rider's Leg
The manufacturer lists equipment alongside the rider, and on a touring machine that phrase is the one worth reading. An 800MT exists to be loaded, and loading it puts webbing within centimetres of metal that runs at several hundred degrees.
Straps lose that contest, usually far from home. Positioning a barrier where the load naturally rests is functional engineering with a cosmetic side effect, rather than the reverse.
Straight Swap
The term Akrapovic uses is plug and play, and it holds: release the factory panel, seat this one on the identical points, tighten. No trimming, no drilling, no packers, and a socket set covers the whole job.
Why CFMOTO Owners Buy Carbon
The 800MT undercuts European adventure bikes substantially, and a good many owners spend part of that difference on the machine rather than pocketing it. An Akrapovic exhaust with a matched carbon shield is one of the more visible ways to do that.
The parts are the same quality Akrapovic supplies for a BMW or a Ducati. Only the motorcycle underneath costs less.
Hand-Laid, Not Pressed
The shape wraps around the silencer and its mounts, which is more than a press tool can form from sheet without wrinkling the cloth. Akrapovic lays the carbon into a mould by hand, cures it under heat and trims the edge afterwards — three operations, each with a person attached to it.
That is where the price of a part this size comes from, and it is the whole difference from the stamped panel it replaces.
No Published Weight
Akrapovic gives no figure for this shield and none is estimated here. A part of this size is a matter of a couple of hundred grams at most, and nobody should buy one expecting a weight benefit.
Three Model Years
CFMOTO has built the current 800MT since 2024 without changing the exhaust mounting, so one shield covers the run to date.
Road Approval
Not applicable. A heat shield is neither an emissions nor a noise component, and the silencer behind it decides what the motorcycle may do.
