DescriptionThe whole story▼

Autumn is when a CRF230F earns its keep for many owners: wet leaves on the forestry roads, puddles in every rut and mornings that never quite warm up. Honda's air-cooled trail bike keeps a single disc at the front, and Accossato offers the AGPA51 pad for it in several versions. This one is the Sintered pad for the CRF230F of 2003 to 2021, meant for riders who head out whatever the forecast and want the lever to feel the same in drizzle as it does on a dry summer afternoon.

Key Features

  • Front brake pads for the Honda CRF230F, 2003 to 2021
  • Article AGPA51ST, Sintered version of the AGPA51 shape
  • Accossato promises steady grip whether the pad is cold or hot
  • Holds its bite when the disc is wet from puddles or rain
  • A sound choice for riding right through the year
  • Fits the single front caliper; one box does the job
  • Alternatives on the same shape: OR, STMX and EV1
  • No ABE on record, intended for competition and off-road use

Construction and Material Quality

Accossato describes the Sintered mixture as a pad that holds a high and even level of grip across both low and high temperatures, and one that keeps working in the wet. For a CRF230F, which spends its life going through water splashes and being parked outside, that consistency is the point: the first stop after a stream crossing should not feel different from the last one before it. The company also highlights long wear, controlled heat and therefore reduced fade. The pad itself is the familiar AGPA51 outline, so it drops into the caliper exactly where the old set came out.

A Lever That Feels the Same in the Rain

Water on a disc briefly lifts the pad away from the metal, and the rider notices a moment of nothing before the brake bites. How long that moment lasts depends heavily on the pad material. Riders who take their CRF230F out in every season tend to value a friction face that clears water quickly and returns to its usual feel without drama, because the trail seldom leaves room for surprises.

Muddy weeks also mean more cleaning. Rinse the caliper with plain water after a wet ride rather than blasting it with a pressure washer, and let the wheel spin freely before parking. If the lever starts to feel spongy, check the fluid level and colour; old fluid absorbs moisture and softens the response. When fitting new pads, clean the pistons first, push them back gently, and brake a few times at moderate speed before the next muddy descent.

Fitment and Compatibility

The AGPA51 is listed by Accossato for the front of the CRF230F from 2003 to 2021. Only the front of this trail bike uses a disc, so no rear pad is offered. The OR, STMX and EV1 versions share the same shape and fitment. Hold the old pad next to the new one before fitting.

Road Approval

No ABE or equivalent German approval has been supplied to us for this Sintered set. We sell it for motorsport, competition and use off the public road.

Scope of Delivery

A pair of AGPA51 pads in the Sintered mixture, enough for the CRF230F's single front caliper.
