DescriptionThe whole story▼
Four-cylinder 400s had all but disappeared from showrooms until Kawasaki brought the idea back with the ZX-4R, and the ZX-4RR is the most fully equipped version. It is compact, revs very high and tempts its owner onto a circuit sooner or later. For the ZX-4RR from 2024 to 2026, Accossato lists the DKS080, a floating disc of its Elite line with a 290 mm outside diameter and a 5 mm friction ring, carried on a black centre with logo rivets.
Key Features
- Floating front disc for the Kawasaki ZX-4RR, 2024 to 2026
- Elite line, 5 mm thick
- 290 mm outer and 124.4 mm inner diameter
- Accossato logo on the rivets
- Black carrier
- Minimum working thickness printed on the disc
- Price for one disc; two are fitted to the front wheel
- No German ABE on record; intended for the track
Construction and Material Quality
The supplier specifies the DKS080 with a 5 mm ring, 290 mm across, and a black carrier with an inner diameter of 124.4 mm. Ring and carrier are separate pieces held together by rivets, each stamped with Accossato's logo. That is what the word floating describes: the rivets locate the ring, but it keeps a little freedom of its own. In Accossato's view a disc's weight matters as well as its bite, and the company says the modest mass of its discs helps the rider steer and control the motorcycle, which suits a bike as nimble as the ZX-4RR.
First Laps on a Small Four
A 400 on track teaches a particular lesson. Because the engine gives away so much to bigger bikes on the straights, riders learn to carry speed through the corners, and they tend to brake for shorter moments and less violently than they would on a litre bike. That makes smooth, precise use of the front brake more important than sheer stopping power.
On a first track day, pick a braking marker for each corner in the early sessions and move it only a little at a time. Squeeze the lever progressively rather than grabbing it, then release it just as smoothly while the ZX-4RR turns in. Between sessions, let the brakes cool while the bike stands on a paddock stand, and look at the discs for blue marks or a raised lip at the outer edge. Before the day, check pad thickness and the age of the brake fluid, because a small bike ridden hard for several sessions can still get its brakes very hot. A worn disc or tired fluid is no place to begin learning.
Fitment and Compatibility
On Accossato's list the ZX-4RR appears from 2024 to 2026 under the name ZX4RR 400, and the DKS080 replaces one of its two original front discs. As the price is for one disc, a full change of both sides means ordering two. The same disc is listed for the ZX-4R of the same years. Compare diameter and thickness with your current discs before fitting, and use the tightening values from Kawasaki's manual.
Road Approval
No German ABE has been documented for the DKS080, and no type approval either; we sell it for use on the circuit.
