DescriptionThe whole story▼
A wide handlebar gives a lot of leverage over the steering, which is part of the reason the GSX-S1000 is so easy to place on a country road. The same leverage works against you when the arms are tense, because a clenched left hand passes every twitch into the bar. Relaxed riding starts with controls that do not force the hand to grip, and the clutch lever is the one that sits under the left fingers all day. Accossato's ESS035 is a machined aluminium clutch lever for the GSX-S1000 of 2015 to 2020, with adjustable reach and three blade lengths.

Construction and Material Quality
Accossato makes the ESS035 from aluminium that is machined on CNC equipment rather than poured into a mould, and finishes it by anodising. That gives the lever two tones: a black hub around the pivot and the reach adjuster, and a blade in the colour you choose. An anodised surface is dense and hard, so the colour stays even through wet rides and cleaning. Structurally the lever is as simple as a lever can be, a rigid blade fixed to its hub with no folding mechanism in between.
A Light Grip on the Left Side
Riding coaches like to say that the bar should be held like a small bird: firmly enough that it cannot escape, gently enough that it comes to no harm. Tension in the arms stiffens the steering and wears the rider out, and on a naked bike the left arm is often the tenser of the two, because the hand has to stay ready on the clutch. A lever that sits too far away makes this worse. The fingers have to open wide to reach it, and the palm clamps the grip to compensate. Set the ESS035 so that your fingers can rest on the blade with the hand loose, the palm light on the grip and the wrist in line with the forearm. You will notice the difference in the first bends: the GSX-S1000 turns with less effort when the arms are soft, and the clutch is still there the moment you need it. The long blade, with its lighter pull, suits riders who want to keep the left hand especially relaxed.
Fitment and Compatibility
Accossato lists the ESS035 for the GSX-S1000 from 2015 to 2020, with entries for the standard bike, a separate line for 2016 and one for the Special Edition EVO from 2018 to 2020. It takes the place of the stock lever at the original clutch mounting. The EDF035 brake lever is listed for the GSX-S1000 from 2015 to 2021. Silver comes short or standard, while black and red are made as standard levers only.
Road Approval
No documented German ABE exists for the ESS035, so we sell this lever for the track.
