DescriptionThe whole story▼
Many riders meet the CB500F, or a bike very like it, at a riding school, and later buy one of their own. A school bike is set up for everyone who rides it, which means for nobody in particular. Your own bike can be set up for you, starting with the lever your left hand uses most. The Accossato ESH250 is an aluminium clutch lever for the CB500F of 2013 to 2021, adjustable for reach and offered short, standard or long.
Key Features
- Clutch lever for the Honda CB500F, 2013 to 2021
- Fits the original clutch mounting
- Distance to the grip adjustable near the pivot
- Three blade lengths; standard roughly 138 mm
- Blade in seven colours, black hub
- Milled aluminium with anodised finish
- Fixed, non-folding blade
Construction and Material Quality
Accossato mills the ESH250 from aluminium on CNC machinery and anodises it afterwards. On every lever the hub is black and houses the pivot and the reach adjuster, while the blade is coloured and fixed rigidly in place; there is no hinge that could introduce play. Anodising leaves a hard, even layer that belongs to the metal rather than sitting on it, which keeps the lever looking tidy through the seasons of commuting that many of these bikes see.
From the School Bike to Your Own
On a training bike, the clutch lever is normally left in a middle position so that every learner can use it, whatever the size of their hands. It is a compromise nobody questions during lessons. On your own CB500F, there is no reason to keep it. Sit on the bike in your usual gloves, put your fingers on the lever and notice where the clutch starts to bite. If your fingers have to straighten to get there, bring the ESH250 closer; if they are cramped against the grip, move it out. Aim for the bite point to arrive with the fingers comfortably bent, so that pulling away, creeping in traffic and slow U-turns all happen in the part of the movement where your hand is strongest and most sensitive. Newly qualified riders often notice the difference within one ride: moving off becomes smoother, and the clutch no longer feels like a switch. The long blade lowers the effort further, which helps on a long commute.
Fitment and Compatibility
For the CB500F from 2013 to 2021, Accossato gives the ESH250, which replaces the lever at the original clutch mounting. The brake lever for the same years is the EDF025. The ESH250 listing ends with the 2021 model year; for the later CB500F, Accossato lists a brake lever, the EDF018.
Road Approval
We sell the ESH250 for track use, since there is no documented German ABE for it.
